One Word Answer

The whole-hearted Mummy Beadzoid has tagged me in Mummy from the Heart’s One Word Meme. I have to say that I am quite nervous in taking up this tag as I am rather scared that people will have nothing to say!! I am hoping that people who read my blog will respond and maybe some of my friends who will see this on Facebook too. David, my fiance, says that his one word would be TROUBLESOME!!!!

But what exactly is the One Word Meme???

I was sat on my bed this morning doing my prayers and my mind started to wonder to conversations I have had with online friends recently. Basically it seems as if there are some people out there who have some very odd (but nice) perceptions of me. They think things about me that I would never have guessed. In the last week I have been referred to as super-blogger, uber blogger, ethical blogger, most positive blogger. All very lovely and have boosted my confidence a good amount but would I ever have guessed people would think such things?

I am creating a meme, called the 1 Word Meme and I would love for every one of us to be able to collate all the the positive words left by our real life friends, virtual friends and fellow bloggers so that we each have a sheet of positive affirmations to treasure and boost our self-esteem.

It's A Wonderful Life

I love Christmas, and Christmas would not be Christmas without snuggling up under a blanket with the ones you love to watch Frank Capra’s It’s A Wonderful Life.  It is such a magical festive film and a firm family favourite.  I love it.  It makes me feel all warm inside, and for me does not work digitally remastered in colour.  It has to be, as it is meant to be, in black and white.

James Stewart and Donna Reed form a formidable team in this festive fantasy.  I always find myself singing ‘Buffalo Girl Won’t You Come Out Tonight’ long after the film is over.  I love that song and that moment in the film. Just beautiful!  George volunteers to lasso the moon for Mary.  A lovely love story!

The most famous moment and quote from the film is near the end as the family are reunited by the Christmas tree. 

“Every Time a Bell Rings, an Angel Gets Its Wings”

This is a feel good comedy drama about hopes and dreams and love, families and friendships.  It is about loyalty and faith.  It is about Christmas, and it features the song that marks the end and beginning of every year, Auld Lang Syne.

One for the family to start the festivities and to make you want to snuggle up close to the ones that you love.

Music I Want My Children to Listen To – Robbie Williams

He’s the One!!!

I have loved Robbie Williams for as long as I can remember from his early days in Take That to his amazing solo career and back into the arms of his buddies in Take That. 

I love his songs and adore his personality, that cheeky chappy, very naughty boy next door.  I think he always comes across well on television and his live shows are fantastic.  He is a natural all round performer and a true show man, which is something I admire and like.

I saw Robbie live at Roundhay Park for my 30th birthday.  It was amazing, a great exhausting day and night with my wee sis.  We had a great time bouncing to the Basement Jaxx and singing every word of the Robbie repertoire.  One of the best days and nights of my life and one never to be forgotten.

Made even more special as I shared with my little sister, Julie.  I cried when she gave me the tickets for my birthday and we queued from early in the morning so that we could get somewhere close to the front.

Robbie owned the stage as he always does and we were in awe and amazed.  He put on a real show and I felt that it was just for me, for my birthday.  It was just wonderful and sealed my obsession with Robbie.

I want my children to enjoy his music, to know all the words to the ballads and miror the moves from his dance tracks.  I want them to bounce to Let Me Entertain You and cry as soon as Angels begins.

I hope they have No Regrets and are One of God’s Better People.

I want my children to listen to Robbie Williams and see him perform even if only on television.

Lord of the Rings … Again!

This week I am joining Metal Mummy in her Movie MeMe.  She has asked us what is our film of the 21st century, our film of the decade?

For me, there can only be one!

There are a few 21st century films that I have enjoyed but for me none come close to The Lord of the Rings as I mentioned in my Listography post last week.

My favourite of all the films, to David’s dismay, is The Fellowship of the Ring.  I know that it has the least action and the least effects but it tells the story so well and introduces each of the characters in detail.  I think that the film is so well cast and the actors really complement each other particularly those playing Frodo and Sam.  This is a tale of friendship, of courage, of determination and strength, of loyalty, of love.

This is a film with it all.  Magic, humour, romance, intrigue and great one liners!  I love the script, the language from the book is just beautiful.  The sets and scenery are breathtaking and the music tells a story all of its own whilst perfectly blending with the words and actions.

I am not a great film buff or reviewer.  I do not watch a lot of television or many movies but I do read a lot of books and for me what makes a great film is where the translation from the page to the screen is true and meaningfuk.  It has to work on a personal level for me and this film really does.

And being a Mummy of premature twins, this film of the 21st century provides the best quote of all time:

Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.
