As a family we love going to the theatre
My children are all keen watchers and performers
With Bea making her professional stage debut this year
My children have grown up with trips to
The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury
We are so lucky to have such a wonderful theatre
So close to home
We have a long wishlist of shows we are hoping to see
And we thought that we would share it with you
I would love to take Esther to see Grease. This year we have started having mummy and daughter movie nights and this was one of the first films that we watched together. It would be great for her to see it on stage.
Now That’s What I Call A Musical
Another one to see with Esther who is now 14. When I was a tween and teen I LOVED Stock, Aitken and Waterman and this musical is packed with all their hits and a nod to so many things that filled my early teens. Smash Hits Magazine and those numbered CDs of chart hits. This would be a fabulous trip down memory lane for me as I approach my half century and a whole lot of fun for Esther who is growing up listening to ‘Mummy Music’.
Another Juke Box musical that Bea and Esther would both love to see. Again they know all the songs and it is a musical that has been on our radar for a long time. It also has local doctor / actor Dr Ranj in it. I would love to see him in this as we loved him in The Marlowe Panto a few years ago.
War Horse I hope to take Esther and William to see after reading Michael Morpurgo’s book. Bookish theatre is a favourite here and we know this production will be stunning.
This sounds amazing and I have heard such good things about this musical. The Marlowe have an amazing range of productions coming to Canterbury this season. Feel very lucky that it is our local theatre.
Local favourites Mister Maker and Ben Roddy are reunited in The Marlowe Panto this year and we cannot wait! Always always always amazing! Definitely one not to be missed. It is a family tradition now and one I hope we will continue for many years to come. Ben Roddy is a hero in our house!
One of our favourite picture books is coming to The Marlowe Studio this festive season. Hot on the heels of The Littlest Yak and The Storm Whale we have My Pet Star. Edie, Bea and I are SO excited for this!
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat
We were lucky enough to see this at The London Palladium and we are so so happy that it is coming to Canterbury. This is a family favourite among our extended family and I think this might be what we do for Tilda’s anniversary in 2025.
2025 has loads more amazing shows to look forward to
The Marlowe is spoiling Kent’s theatre goers at the moment
Are you planning to see any of these?
Maybe we will see you there x
