In our house
My husband is the storyteller

He has an amazing ability
To make up stories
And tell them as he thinks them up

I love to tell stories
But I need time to plan and prepare

I love to write
I am an avid reader
And I find great joy in
Reading aloud to my children

I love sharing books with them
And I am honoured that at 12
The twins still clamour to listen
As I read to them

I have no memories of being read to
By my parents

The memories I have of teachers
Reading to me in class
Are ones I treasure

I will read to my children
For as long as they will listen

Much of the magic of our
Cherished story times
Come from the discovery of
Incredible magical storytellers
Whose voices sing from the page
Making us feel connected to
The characters in the stories
The times and places
And deeply connected
To one another

For the moments we will
Reflect on when we are older
