Elsie

Have you met Elsie?

Elsie reminds me of a mix of Edie – our very own littlest babbit

Bea – our strong willed confident babbit who likes to be different from the others

And Esther – our creative day dreamer babbit who is a big thinking problem solver

Elsie is a delightful blend of them all

Elsie is also of course just Elsie

The youngest of seven siblings

Elsie sees the world differently

She does not always want to do what all the others want to do

She does not always agree with their decisions and she tries hard to share her ideas

But is always shunned by her sisters and brothers

Elsie often does things her own way anyway and by the end of this lovely story

The family find out that often the littlest of their set is right and her ideas are not so silly after all

This is such a lovely story to share with a large family group

It encourages team work and acceptance of everyone’s opinions and ideas

It shows that sometimes doing things differently, trying something new can be a positive thing

It also shows little ones like Elsie should be themselves and stay true to themselves no matter what

Even when the world seems against them

This a gorgeous book with lovely details to seek out in the pictures

We love seeing what Elsie is up to on each page and love that she is such a bookish babbit

Starting the story asleep with piles of books beneath her bed and then sat apart with her head in a book

While the others were busy with breakfast and preparing for the day

I love the tight knit well oiled routines of the sibling machine

And I love Elsie for being quirky and unique and utterly enchanting

This is a lovely story for spring and would make the perfect Easter present for a littlest sibling

A gentle story that introduces young readers to important themes like diversity and acceptance

A story they encourages us all to widen our world views and open our hearts

Be more Elsie … this Easter and always

Be true to you and kind to others, always
