“Climate change is not only a threat, it is, above all, an opportunity to create a healthier, greener, and cleaner planet which will benefit all of us. We must seize this opportunity.”
Greta Thunberg
This weekend world leaders will arrive in the UK for COP26. A conference, a chance for leaders to come together to discuss and agree on actions to address climate change. I am using the 12 days of the conference to talk to my own children about climate action and what we can do to protect our planet. Only by teaching our children about climate change, it’s causes and effects along with the significance of COP26 can we empower them to spread the message and effect the change as they become the decision makers of the future.
As families, schools, communities, counties and countries, we can come together to take action, make changes and send ripples. Change starts with us!
There is a lot to understand about climate change and the role of COP26. Twinkl have some great resources for parents, teachers and children. There is an amazing virtual book showcase available through
Publishers of climate themed books have resources on their websites and #publishersfortheplanet are sharing inspiration and ideas.
This is going to be an amazing 12 days and we will be sharing the books we read and the activities that we do linked to many of the books that you can see here.
I think it could become overwhelming and so Twinkl remind us to ‘Think HEAR: Hope, Empathy, Action and Relevance.’
That is why I love Greta’s quote and chose it for this post
“Climate change is not only a threat, it is, above all, an opportunity to create a healthier, greener, and cleaner planet which will benefit all of us. We must seize this opportunity.”
Let’s be the change we want and need to see in the world.
