My ten year old son
Has been following the work of Marcus Rashford
Over the past 12 months
Reading in his newspaper
About the good work this incredible young man has been doing
For children across the UK
When we heard about Marcus’ Book Club
We thought it was such a fantastic idea
And we are glad to be playing a tiny part in spreading the word today
The first book Marcus has chosen for his young readers
Is the brilliant A Dinosaur Ate My Sister
Written by Pooja Puri
And illustrated by Allen Fatimaharan
As Marcus himself says
A Dinosaur Ate My Sister is the perfect story to escape into
To find adventure
And to inspire young readers to follow their dreams
This book is all over social media at the moment
As boxes of it have been sent to schools across the country
To get kids reading
The campaign already seems to be a huge success
And seeing kids smiling with books in their hands
Makes my heart sings
And just when I thought we could not love Marcus Rashford more
I read his note at the beginning of A Sister Ate My Dinosaur
And cried
It is such a kind and caring note
Inspiring and reassuring
Everything that children need it to be
As I began reading A Dinsoaur Ate My Sister
I immediately thought of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure
It also made me think of The Treehouse Books by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton
And Ade Edmundson’s Tilly and The Time Machine
The story is a fast paced chaotic adventure
With clever use of language
It is packed with facts
Laced with danger
And filled to bursting with fun
From the striking front cover
To the use of mixed fonts
The awesome sketches, diagrams, lists, illustrations and word art
That punctuate every page
This is a glorious riot of a book
That will engage even the most reluctant of readers
Every page is designed to draw children in
Hook them into the story
And lead them through the fast paced reading adventure
There is a time machine
Time travel
Terrifying T-rexes
Mysterious wormholes
Glitchy inventions
ALL OF SPACE AND TIME
This book is utterly bonkers
And completely brilliant
A Dinosaur Ate My Sister
Is all about Esha Verma
Her snotty apprentice Broccoli
And his cunning pet tortoise
Esha and Broccoli have a dream
To win the legendary Brain Trophy
The ultimate inventing prize
Their entry this year is a …
TIME MACHINE!
But the day before the competition
Esha’s DRONG IGNORAMUS big sister, Nishi
Hijacks the time machine
And is lost in the Cretaceous age
With the dinosaurs!
How are Esha and Broccoli going to get Nishi back?
There is only one way to find out
Read this whacky time travel adventure story for yourself
And be inspired to try your hand at being a
Genius Inventor Extraordinaire
