Edie is a bright and busy three year old
She loves to be challenged when she plays
I think at the moment we are not challenging her enough
So this year lots of her presents are going to be educational
Educational but playful
Puzzles, games and toys
Here are some of the things that have caught my eye so far
At Bright Minds
An online toy store selling lots of our most trusted and favourite brands
Edie loves drawing, tracing and practising her writing
We have a big whiteboard on our wall that she loves to draw on
This tabletop version would be brilliant for her to sit at the table with us
To doodle while listening to stories and also to take outside
This would also be really useful for Esther
She loves writing on a whiteboard when composing written work
Also for practising handwriting and spelling
The board is magnetic so can be used with magnetic letters, numbers
And with picture magnets and Magnatiles
I love the look of this puzzle for Edie
It comes with 24 challenge cards
Children can build totem poles with the magnetic pieces
They can complete the challenges and use their imaginations
To create designs of their own
This is something that Edie can do independently while the older children
Are doing their home education lessons
Melissa and Doug Self Correcting Number Puzzle
This is a lovely chunky self correcting number puzzle
A playful way to develop counting skills and number recognition
We love the solid quality and educational value of Melissa and Doug toys
Dress a princess in lots of different ways
Magnetic pieces come in a metal tin
Lovely compact gift
Great for travelling when we can
Edie loves these dress up dolls
We have a few different dolls and play scenes
They keep her busy and encourage imaginative play and storytelling
Her big sisters love playing with these too
Montessori First Puzzle The Forest
This is a simple sturdy six piece puzzle
One that young children can put together independently
They then place the wooden animals into the right place on the puzzle
The wooden animals can be used as standalone toys
Perfect for imaginative play and storytelling
I can imagine loving these
Djeco Gentle Creature Felt Frames
Did you love Fuzzy Felt as a child?
These little felt animal pictures are similar in their sensory appeal
Children can layer up felt pieces on a base board to create a picture
These would keep Edie busy and develop her fine motor skills
She would be so proud and delighted with the finished pictures too
We love Smart Games
And this one sounds like a Beauty!
Can you help the knight reach Sleeping Beauty’s castle?
Or maybe you’d prefer to help Sleeping Beauty escape on her own?
Try to find the path from the entrance of the maze to the castle…
Without getting lost!
This sounds like such good fun
And a perfect way to get preschoolers using their problem solving skills
Edie would absolutely love this
I know that she would
The puzzle grows with your child too
As there are 60 challenges to work through
Including introducing a dragon!
We will definitely be buying this for Edie for Christmas
And I think that all the big kids will want to have a play too
This is a bright and colourful arty fine motor activity
Pretty pictures on pegboards
That children can do over and over again
We are always on the search for things Edie can choose to do independently
While her siblings are working
This would be perfect
A lovely lovely toy
We have a few Snap n Learn sets from Learning Resources
They are great tools for learning and fun toys to encourage imaginative play
These owls are super cute and would look lovely on display
The owls can be used for colour matching
To build shape recognition and vocabulary
To practise recognising, naming and ordering numbers to 10
To learn about shades of colours
So many ways to play with this fun learning resource
Tidlo Shape Sorting Cake Stand
We have owned this cake stand for 9 years
Since our wedding in 2011
It is a wonderful toy offering so many ways to play and learn
Learning numbers to 20
Learning shapes
Lots of cafe and tea party imaginative play
It is a brilliant quality wooden toy
That looks beautiful on display
And has definitely stood the test of time in our house
