Christmas fever is slowly creeping into our house
I try to keep it under control
Until the day we head into London
To see The Snowman
This year we are all going
And after the show
We will have a walk around Covent Garden
To see the lights
And head into Trafalgar Square
To see the Christmas Tree
Before heading home
Advent always starts for us with The Snowman ballet
And putting up Baby Tilda’s star
We also have an advent box
Filled with goodies to help us savour the season
Including our advent calendars
We LOVE counting down with our calendars
And always have several on the go
This year we are doing a reverse advent calendar
That will be given to families in need
Through our church
We will have our pocket calendar
With chocolate coins and Bible verses
And then the children will each have a calendar
As we are having a slow Christmas this year
We are focusing on wooden reusable calendars
That can be played with and / or used to decorate our home
Here are five (+1) family favourites that have caught our eye
Meri Meri Advent Nativity from Luck and Luck
Meri Meri Woodland Advent from Luck and Luck
Meri Meri Polar Express Train Advent Calendar from Luck and Luck
Naked Marshmallow Advent Calendar
Kellogs Countdown Calendar: 24 Bowls ’til Christmas
How will you be counting down to Christmas this year?
May I suggest The Real Advent Calendar, available from Traidcraft and probably elsewhere. It is a Nativity calendar, with fairtrade chocolate behind each door, and you also get a Christmas story booklet.
Ah yes! This sounds amazing x I love this idea x I used to love my picture advent calendars when I was little https://www.traidcraftshop.co.uk/the-real-advent-calendar-85g
They’re lovely, and give children a different perspective than the mainly secular one they get elsewhere. Recommended!
I brought the Meri Meri wooden animal advent last year, it’s lovely and will be reused again this year.
Have a look at the Unicef inspired gifts Advent calendar – it’s a simple card calendar with doors and each day you open a door to reveal how the money you paid for the calendar is helping less fortunate children around the world. Last year there were things like school supplies, vaccines, mosquito nets etc. It prompted lots of good conversations and my kids have asked for one again this year which both surprised and pleased me!
Oh that sounds wonderful too x So many ways of giving at Christmas time x
