My midwife tells me
That because of my history
And because of my age
I will not be allowed to go over due with this pregnancy
Which means that 15 weeks on Tuesday
All being well
Our little lady will be here
Our Sprinkle of Stardust will be born
And our family will be complete
Sprinkle is our second rainbow baby
Bea was our first
Losing Matilda Mae made me thoroughly research safe sleep products
And obsess about how and where our rainbow would sleep
A number of lovely companies agreed to work with me
And sent me products to test and review
Without meaning to I let them down
Because though I had done the research
Chosen the safest products I could
Was put my baby down
In fact Bea did not sleep anywhere
For over two years
Apart from on me and in my arms
She had a few minutes in her Shnuggle
A few naps in her Snuzpod
She dozed in the Toddle Pod
But it was never for long
And I did not have it in me
To allow her to have her own sleeping space
I think it has probably been good for Bea
I fed her for almost two and a half years
And she slept with me all of that time
I think it has given us a very close bond
But it has not really been fair on my husband
Or my other older children
Who have not had as much of my time as they should
So this time I have promised myself
And my family
That I will let this baby sleep
That I WILL put this baby down
So that I can have a more healthy relationship with sleep
And with all of my family
If I miss another two years of Esther and William’s bedtimes
They will be almost nine and I do not want to lose all of that time
And so I am going to spend a few weeks researching again
I am going to carefully choose the products
That I am confident with enable Sprinkle to sleep safely
That will give me peace of mind
And that will help us all enjoy our new baby as a family
Esther is so excited about having a baby sister
She is very keen to be involved with bath time
And read the baby stories
And push her in a pram
And I want to encourage that
Because I know that it will mean so much to her
She is already such a wonderful big sister
To William and Bea
My plan over the coming weeks is to blog about the safe sleep products that I find
To talk about why I like them and what it is about them that supports safe sleep
At The Baby Show in March I am going to be seeking out products that enable safe sleep
And I am hoping to do some vlogging from the show
My plan at the moment for Sprinkle
Is to use Bea’s SnuzPod again beside our bed
You can read my full review of the SnuzPod here
And watch my video too
I also want to convince David that we NEED a Shnuggle Dreami downstairs
So that she can nap where I can see her during the day
I know that I will want to keep baby close
And the Dreami is perfect for that
It is light and can be moved around the home
The Dreami bed can be used as a rocker
At floor level it can be rocked with your feet
While you are reading to older children
Or eating dinner
On the stand the baby is obviously higher up
Off the floor
Away from boisterous older children
I love that the stand folds easily
So that it can be stored when not in use
And easily transported for holidays
And afternoons at Granny’s
This is a clever baby sleep system
That has been really thought about
You can read more details about The Shnuggle Dreami
On the Shnuggle website
I am not promising that there will not be times
When my very last baby will sleep in my arms
I am so looking forward to making the most of those snuggles and cuddles
But I do promise
That though I will be scared
Terrified of losing her
I will lay my baby down to sleep
And I will make sure that I am more rational
About how I am with her
And more fair with dividing my time between all of our children
And my husband!
I am going to write a post listing my safe sleep top buys
And the things already on my radar for The Baby Show at Excel
I hope that you will read them
And find them useful
With Tilda’s anniversary less than two weeks away
I want to spend some time raising awareness in her name
While also getting ready for her sibling
Just as we tried with Bea before her (SIDS and The New Baby)
NB: The products we were sent and did not use with Bea were given to families in need in our local area
This is exactly what I did. Had a SnuzPod upstairs and a Dreami Shnuggle downstairs. We would also take the Shnuggle with us when we travelled as I felt safer than a travel cot.
What did you think of the Dreami? It is beautiful to look at. Looks really easy to keep clean and light to move around?
