On Saturday we wrapped up warm
And headed to Dreamland Margate
We were off to explore
All the fun of
Having been last year
We knew a little of what to expect
And so the children were very excited
Very very excited
We ate a picnic lunch in the car
On the way to Margate
So that when we arrived we were ready for adventure
We met up with my uncle and aunty
And my uncle told us that he had not been to Dreamland
Since he was 10 years old
Quite a few years ago!
We had a milkshake by The Roller Disco
Explored the arcade
And collected our wristbands
Dreamland is free to enter for everyone
You can buy tokens at the park to pay for one or two rides
Or for unlimited access you can buy a wristband
You can do this on arrival
Or prepay online for a better deal
A day of rides at Dreamland
Would cost our family of 5
Around £40
We love Dreamland
The children love the rides
And I love the feel of the park
I love what the team are trying to do
Create a magical, vintage experience
Not too loud
Not too flashy
The park is clean and tidy
The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful
Fantastic with families
Food is good and not over priced
This is a special place
For families to spend time together
And make truly magical memories
If you get chance to visit
Please do
Especially with little people
The Octopus Garden soft play is lovely
This weekend though
We were there to see The Frosted Fairground
And to meet a certain jolly fellow
In a bright red coat
Now we visited Santa’s Grotto
At The Frosted Fairground last year
And it was brilliant
This year sadly it was not so good
The large space we had sung and danced in last year
Had been split into two smaller rooms
There were too many people in each room
At a time
And the activities
Though good festive fun ideas
Were not executed very well
Last year the whole experience was light and open
With grown ups standing outside the elf cabin
Looking through windows at their children having fun
This year it was dark and cramped
And there was a lot of hanging around
The best bits of the grotto experience
Were having ride ons to play on while waiting
For the Elf Department to open
And a fantastic sleigh to sit on and take family photos
Father Christmas was lovely
And the children loved sitting with him
And telling him what they would like for Christmas this year
It was good that a photo was included in the cost of the visit
As to be honest the presents were not great
Esther got a small wooden spinning top and a bag of marbles
William got a box of wooden dominoes
They did not compare to the chocolate machines from last year!
The Santa Grotto Experience at Dreamland this year
Costs £9.95
So at £30 for my three little people
I am not sure I would pay the price
And I am not really sure that you need to
So many places now offer a chance to meet Father Christmas
With magical walk through grottos
Nowhere else that I know of
Offers the magic of the Dreamland Park
The vintage rides
That children and the young at heart
Want to ride again and again and again!
On Saturday we had most of the rides to ourselves
There were no queues at all
And we could ride on things over and over again
Bea loved the double decker merry go round
And the Austin Cars
Esther and William loved the swing boats
They loved taking my aunty and uncle on them
They also took them on the Caterpillar
The carousel
The ghost train
Such a wonderful afternoon filled with fun
And we stayed into the evening too
With everyone except pregnant me
Flying high in the aeroplanes in the dark
I think that this might have been William’s highlight
Dreamland by night is beautiful
And the perfect place for Bea
To have her very first taste of candy floss
Which, of course, she loved!
We had such a lovely time
I hope that many more people will visit
Throughout the festive season
We had a fabulous, festive, family time
Thank you Dreamland and goodnight x
We were invited to experience Dreamland’s Frosted Fairground free of charge in return for an honest review
