Over the last few weeks
We have been doing lots of art
Focused on Autumn trees
I thought I would share with you
Five ways that we have made pictures
Of Autumn trees
Tin Foil Printing
Printing with Aluminium Foil is incredibly simple
But gives a lovely textured effect
Perfect in autumn colours for creating autumn trees
With rich red
Bright orange
Golden yellow
And Autumn brown
You can mix the colours
To give a bright burst of seasonal foliage
We used strips of foil
Scrunched into balls
We painted the tree trunk and branches
With brushes
Then used the foil to print the leaves
Super quick and super simple
A tin foil tree
Cotton Bud Spots
Painting with cotton buds
Seems a popular activity on Pinterest
Whatever the season
For me the autumn apple tree
Seemed a good place to start
Mustard yellow
Chocolate brown
Rust
Aubergine
Apricot
Again we painted the trunk of the tree
With brushes
Before printing the leaves
I love the look of the perfect circles
Spots of colour
Make beautiful leaves
I am looking forward to experimenting with cotton buds again
With a snow theme for winter
And blossom in the spring
Our Autumn trees were beautiful
And I am still amazed every time I see Esther’s beautiful cotton bud owl
I love the way she used the tools to make spots and stripes and to create texture in her picture
Stunning!
Coloured Card Collage
To start this collage craft
I cut up lots of different coloured card
Some matt
Some shiny
Some with added sparkle
This time we drew our trees with Sharpies
Before sticking on the leaves
With PVA glue
My children LOVE sticking with PVA glue
And this super simple collage activity was a hit
And the end products were lovely too
Keen to continue gluing
We made pumpkin collages too
Making the most of the seasonal inspiration
And wonderful Autumn colours
Foam Stickers
Another thing my children adore
Especially Esther and Bea
Is stickers
They absolutely LOVE stickers
These foam leaves from Baker Ross are great
So quick and easy to use
And they look great
Esther had a great idea of using a paper plate
To give the shape of a bushy tree
I drew Bea’s tree for her
And she had great fun sticking on all the leaves
This really was quick and easy to do
And quick and easy to tidy up too!
Great for a rainy Autumn afternoon
Cardboard Tubes
Squeeziung cardboard tubes
To give an oval
Leaf shape
Is a wonderful way
To create a quick picture of an Autumn tree
Dip the tubes
Into the coloured paint
Print on to the paper
And off you go!
We painted our trunks and branches
With brushes
Adding definition with darker brown and black
We were really pleased
With how our tube trees turned out
The squeezed rolls
Also make great petals
And we made some lovely sunflowers
Using our Autumn shades
Here are our five ways to make Autumn tree pictures
How do you make yours?
