Sometimes something so magical happens
That you just know that your children
Are going to remember it for the rest of their lives
On Tuesday night my children had the fright of their lives
Some early Halloween fun
With a terrific promotional team from Tesco
As the night clouds began to darken the sky
Driving through the autumnal evening
Through the mist and shadows
Came the Tesco Spooker Van
Parked outside our house
A charming, funny and friendly actor
Dressed as Frankenstein
Affectionately known here as ‘The Green Man’
Beckoned to us
And bade us come closer
Esther and William were a little nervous
But mostly incredibly excited
As we approached the van
The haunting sounds of Halloween could be heard
Frankenstein called the children to him
And tempted them with crates of candy
As they reached in to take some sweets
A hairy hand popped out at them
Causing a little shock
And a lot of laughter
If this had been the entirety of the visit
It would have been enough
But then …
The side of the van opened
To reveal a spooky Halloween scene
Through the dry ice smoke
We could see pumpkins
Skeletons
Ghosts
Spiders and cobwebs
Lots of seasonal sparkle
It was wonderful
Esther and William spent so long just staring at everything
Calling out Oh look
Look at this
Look at that
So much to see
And our funny friendly Frankenstein
Just made the whole experience so much fun
Putting the fun into our fright night
It was the perfect Halloween treat
Just as we thought things could not get any better
A four handed man
Appeared through thick black material at the back of the van
Esther and William loved this part of their treat the best of all
They were getting the four handed man to copy them
And to dance along to their DJ Skeleton
How they laughed!
How we all laughed
It was wonderful!
Magical!
The stuff that lasting memories are made of
And then the reason the Spooker Van had visited us
To make a spooky delivery
A crate load of products
To help us get ready for a family Halloween
And we have lots of freaky fun in store
And we are going to share it all with you!
Many people have asked me if the Spooker Van
Is available to book throughout the Halloween season
Sadly it is not
It was a promotional activity to launch a Tesco Halloween collaboration on the blog
But I do think Tesco should consider offering spooky deliveries
In the future throughout October half term
A few families could get together
And give their children a fantastic funny fright night treat
Esther and William have already asked if the van will come again next year
They are also hoping that there might be a Christmas delivery van???
I know that this was part of an advertising campaign
Launching a Halloween project
But for us it was so much more
It was a shared family moment that we will all remember
For a very very long time
We will always fondly remember our fright night
With the Tesco Spooker Van
This post is part of our Halloween collaboration with Tesco, watch out for upcoming product reviews, messy play and simple cooking and craft ideas
