Six of the best viral proposals!
A proposal used to be a private affair; the closest it came to being in front of an audience was when it took place at a restaurant or the top of the Eiffel Tower. That was until the rise of the internet and social media. Today, the intimate moment shared between two people can be broadcast online to millions of other people. But, of course, if it is going to be on the internet it needs to be far more impressive than simply ‘popping the question’.
Planning to propose to that special someone in the most modern way possible? Here are six of the best viral proposals of ALL time:
1. The year-long proposal
You Tube Views: 25,803,761This guy thought one proposal wasn’t enough; he wanted to do it across 365 days. The 15-minute video shows him asking her each day for a year, which he presents to her on her birthday whilst on holiday in Aruba. It ends with a face-to-face proposal on the beach. Who could say no to that…?
2. A proposal straight out of the movies…
You Tube Views: 32,411,855Ginny goes to the cinema with her brother Charlie to see ‘Fast 5’ only to realise that her boyfriend Matt is the star of the show and she his leading lady. The film follows Matt as he makes his way to the cinema, with cameras rigged up to get Ginny’s reaction. The film ends as Matt arrives at the cinema to ask her that all-important question in person.
3. A commute to remember: The 19:57 from Euston
You Tube Views: 1,907,331Let’s face it, commutes are boring, long and stressful. The most exciting thing that could happen to you on that crowded train is to get a seat so you don’t have to spend the journey clinging on for dear life, with your head in a sweaty armpit. However, for one lucky lady this particular commute was to be more memorable than most, as the entire carriage began to sing Bill Withers ‘Lovely Day’ before her boyfriend appeared to pop the question.
4. A proposal 6 years in the making.
You Tube Views: 3,435,684About a year into their relationship this couple decided to document life highlights by taking a photo holding a letter. They wanted to prove that ‘we always knew.’ Six years into the relationship, what the girlfriend didn’t know, as they held up the final letter ‘W’ was ‘ill you marry me?’ would be spelled out behind them to join it.
5. Downtown Disney Flashmob
You Tube Views: 13,110,174This proposal takes place at Downtown Disney – where a flashmob start dancing to Bruno Mars ‘Marry You.’ Jamin joins in with the dancing – as his girlfriend’s reaction is captured on a separate camera – before turning to her and proposing.
6. Justin and Emily: The Proposal
You Tube Views: 10,608,142This is one epic marriage proposal and would be pretty hard to top. The 27- minute video begins with Justin reminding Emily they have dinner reservations that evening at a restaurant – but when she arrives he is not there. He does however appear via a video link and starts by explaining that the purpose is to propose. But the surprise doesn’t end there!
The video follows him to a radio station where he takes part in an interview, a recreation of an N Sync music video, followed by a flashmob. Finally, he becomes a star in a movie desperately trying to get to his girlfriend to propose – which ends with him arriving at the restaurant to actually ask the question.
Now you have some ideas all you need is the perfect ring (and hopefully a yes, of course) to finish off your viral engagement– get some inspiration here and ensure the diamond is as impressive as the proposal.
