Tomorrow we are off to Thomas Land
William asks weekly
‘When are we going to Thomas Land again?’
And finally
It is tomorrow
In their holiday pyjamas
The children will be bundled into the car
And with the rising of the sun
We will hit the road
In honour of our field trip
I thought I would share with you
The first in a series of posts
Called ‘Big Painting With …’
And yes
You have guessed it
We have been big painting
With trains!
I got a long role of thick paper
Lining paper for walls is perfect
I laid it out on the back patio
Squirted some brightly coloured spots of poster paint
Set up the mega ramp
And let Esther and William loose with a range of toy trains
They absolutely loved it
They played for ages
Sometimes together
And sometimes apart
Painting big
With trains
Squeezing paint from the bottles
I wrote the word Trains
For the trains to ride through
Leaving tracks
It would be great to make a range of transport canvases
Painting with trains, cars, bikes, boats
I think it would make an amazing classroom display
Big painting like this
Is great for working muscles
Developing coordination
And refining gross motor skills
William especially was using his whole body
Moving up and down the paper
Racing trains
His whole self was covered in paint
It was wonderful to see
This creative, physical play
Is a perfect summer pass time
As you can jump into the paddling pool
To wash off all the paint
We had a wonderful time
Big painting with …
Trains!
Wow, is it really bad of me that only sees the mess. Haha I must let go and do this with my two over the summer, I always used not having a garden as an excuse but don’t have that excuse any more 😉 x
That painting looks lot of fun, but I cringe at the mess too. I avoid messy stuff and hope mine get to do that at school. And hope you all enjoyed your trip to ThomasLand. We haven’t been there.
