I cannot believe that Baby Bea will soon be 11 months old
I have fed her on demand from the day she was born
I think that soon our breastfeeding journey will come to an end
Though she is showing no signs whatsoever at the moment
Of wanting to give up her mummy milk
Quite the opposite in fact
Most often when we are together we are attached!
It is wonderful and exhausting in almost equal measure
But I do love feeding her so so much
And I miss her for the rare hours we spend apart
But I want her to have a play mate
A younger sibling
So I think we need to reduce her feeds
So that David and I can begin to consider conceiving again
In the almost 11 months of our feeding adventure
These are the products
In no particular order
That have served me well
Bravado Nursing Bras
I adore Bravado. I have the Confetti Nursing Bra and a few of the Seamless Body Silk bras. All the Bravado bras I have tried look pretty, they wash really well and last looking and feeling as new. The quality is excellent. They are very comfortable to wear and offer a good level of support. They are great for daily wear and soft enough to sleep in. Bravado are definitely the name I most associate with feeding bras.
The Bravado Seamless Nursing Bra has been shortlisted for Best Breastfeeding Product in The Loved By Parents Awards. You can vote for them here.
Carriwell Nursing Bras
The first nursing bra I ever bought was a Carriwell. I still have it and still wear it, though it is now a little grey. When pregnant and feeding I move in Carriwell sizes from medium to large and back to medium again. I love a few of their bras and tank tops. The seamless nursing bra is so soft and so comfortable it is easy to forget that you are wearing it. I think it is a very prettily shaped bra and fits well under summer vests and camisoles. It has a low back and thin straps but the pretty style is still very very supportive. The control cami is great for adding confidence as well as an extra layer.
BOOB Nursing Bras
I have one BOOB Fast Food feeding bra and I love it. It is a hot pink colour and is often on show under a vest top or dress. I love the beauty of this bra, I feel beautiful and confident wearing it. It is also the best bra for clasping and unclasping one handed. This is a very important consideration when dealing with a heavy, hungry baby! A soft, pretty, functional feeding bra from BOOB.
Cantaloop Nursing Bras
I only have one Cantaloop bra and I really only wear it with sleep and lounge wear. It is so soft, stretchy and supportive. I adore it. It is a pretty bra and has no seams. I am surprised by t he amount of support that it offers. A great sleeping bra for pregnancy and nursing.
Babes with Babies Nursing Vests
The Foxy Feeder Nursing Tank from Babes with Babies is the best feeding vest I have found. The material is quite thick this offers tummy support and discreet coverage for nipples. The straps are very thin and the vest is long fitting offering tummy coverage and a sleek silhouette. I have this vest in white and black and I wear them all the time, on their own and under other clothes.
Mama Designs Bamboo Breast Pads
I am very lucky that my body seems to easily produce a large quantity of milk. This does mean that I need to wear breast pads all the time, for comfort and to protect my clothing. With Bea I have been lucky enough to use bamboo breast pads from Mama Designs. These super soft, super absorbent reusable pads are really comfortable to wear. They caress the breast protecting the nipples by keeping them dry and free from chafing. The pads come in two sizes for day and night wear, depending on how much absorbency you need. I much prefer these naturally absorbent reusable pads to paper disposable ones.
The Mama Designs Bamboo Breast Pads are currently shortlisted in The Loved By Parents Awards. You can vote for them here.
Snoob Scarfs
I love my Snoob Scarfs. Striking colours, super soft and easy to wear, they wash so well and look like new after lots of washing. The scarves are large enough for tandem feeding twins and feeding young toddlers. A fashionable and practical feeding scarf. Snoob has a sale on for National Breastfeeding Week.
Frugi Feeding Clothes
Any regular readers of this blog will know we are a Frugi Family. We all love to wear Frugi clothes. Frugi’s feeding range is the best I have found. Fun, flattering fashion for feeding mummies. I have a few vests, tunics and dresses and I love them all. If you are looking for nursing wear then check out Frugi Mother Range.
GumiGem Nursing Necklaces
Bea likes to fiddle as she feeds so nursing necklaces from Gumigem have proved invaluable. She pinches and twiddles the beads instead of my skin as she feeds to sleep. She finds it really soothing. She loves to chew Gumigem pendants and bangles too!
Weleda Nursing Oil
Three pregnancies and feeding four babies means that my breasts have seen better days. I am trying to preserve them and nourish them the best I can by regularly massaging them with Weleda Nursing Oil. As well as soothing and hydrating my skin Weleda Nursing Oil contains the pure, natural essential oils of fennel, caraway and marjoram which are traditionally used to support healthy lactation and stimulate free milk flow. A special treat product to encourage nursing mummies to take some ‘me time’ and indulge in self care.
These are my top ten breast bits
I would love to know about yours
What product makes breastfeeding easier for you?
I found my nursing pillow the most amazing help, as it meant I could support her well without getting achey arms or an achey back! Agree with the Bravado bras, I also loved my hotmilk nightie though 🙂 I know what you mean re thinking about another baby, we’ve been having the same talk. xx
