Last night I joined in a Twitter chat about Christmas
I was so excited about Christmas as we tweeted
Thinking of the magic I long to create for my children this year
We tried last year we really did
But our first Christmas without Matilda Mae
Was just too much to bear
Everywhere we went
Everywhere we looked
Baby Tilda as she was and as she should be
Was missing
She is, of course, still missing this year
Perhaps for me even more so
But for Esther and William a little less than before
They are so excited for Christmas
And they deserve a wonderful one
None of the events of the past four years
Have been their fault
They need magic and wonder in their lives
It is my duty as their Mummy to provide it
And actually it is an honour and a privilege to
But it is really really hard
At Christmas time we fill our house with stars for Tilda
On her first and only Christmas we bought her a beautiful red wooden star
This will be hung in our house now
For all Christmases to come
A star is quite a usual thing to buy a baby for their first Christmas
But because of Tilda
It was never going to be an appropriate thing to buy for Bea
When I saw the personalised vintage spoons from Dormouse and the Teapot
I knew that I had found the perfect thing
The perfect keepsake
To be treasured for always
A symbol of hope
For all festive seasons to come
With a simple gingham ribbon
To mark the first Christmas
(Hopefully not the only and last)
Of Baby Beatrice Hope
Of our special Rainbow Baby
Our beautiful Baby Bea
