Half term has been lovely
Unseasonably warm
And we have made the most of it
A couple of trips out toward the end of the week
But mostly long, lazy pyjama days at home
Filled with plenty of play
Our Tuff Spot has been a pumpkin patch farm
One side soil and one side hay
Esther and William planted pretend pumpkins
Before digging them all up and out again
I used a orange glass beads
And yellow pom poms for pumpkins
I set out lots of little plant pots
And some plastic gardening tools
William very quickly decided he needed
Both a digger and a dumper truck
To help him with his work
Esther was keen to get her hands dirty
Taking pumpkin pom poms and planting them in the pots
Her and William worked together to take down
And rebuild the stone wall
It is lovely to see them act out scenarios like this together
Really playing together
Rather than just alongside one another
Esther soon decided that she wanted to play differently
While William was happy to keep on digging and mixing
Breaking and fixing
He was in his element
Totally and utterly in it
Esther decided that she wanted to make the hay into hay bales
So we searched for string and began tying
She then brought her ponies out to play
And her Godmother showed her how to feed them
And make a stable for them
Using hay as bedding
It was very special watching them play together
Esther also found some shells in the garden
From a previous small world play
And started to make shell gardens
Inside the little pots
She was very proud of her creations
And so was I
I was proud of how both my children engaged with this pumpkin patch play
ps) Do you like Esther and William’s pyjamas? They are Hatley Henley Stars. Made for us! And bought from the rather wonderful Little Sunflowers
Lots of fun! Love the PJ’s too! x
