Christening Eve was a disaster
Poorly Godparents, doubts about the service
Pain and regret and love for Matilda Mae
Bea was very unsettled
Needed a last minute midnight bath
And I was not sure any of us were going to have the strength we needed to face the day
The day broke
A sunny autumn day
Blue skies
Dappled sunlight shining through red and golden leaves
Because of the dramas of the night before
Bea was almost late for her own christening
But not quite
Once at the church
Tilda’s special church
Surrounded by family and friends
All there to support us
To remember Tilda
And welcome Bea
I started to relax
And enjoy the day
The service was wonderful
Led by our amazing vicar and friend
It was the right mix of what was now, what had gone before and what is still to come
The readings were read beautifully
We all lit candles
And we sung
And while we sang
All the children shaked, banged and jingled
A rainbow of musical instruments
While the candles were being lit
We also blew bubbles in the church
As music played and Matilda Mae’s photo montage was shown
It was magical
Beautiful
A church full of love
And rainbow bubbles
Bea was wonderful
She cried a little
Slept a little
And smiled a lot
She was so good as the water was put on her
And so settled with the vicar as he took her for a walk through the congregation
Our family
Our friends
People had travelled
From all over the country
From over the sea
School friends
Uni friends
Work colleagues
Blogging friends
Family
So many people
Made such a special effort
And all for our Rainbow Baby
Baby Bea
Esther and William were so proud
So engaged with the service
I was very proud of them
I was proud of all our children today
And so Bea is baptised
She has wonderful Godparents
Our wonderful friends
Who have been by our side through our darkest and lightest of days
True friends who we love
And respect
And know will be good role models for all our children
Dan, Melissa, Michele
Thank you
The service was so special
We could not have asked for more
After the church we went to a local hotel
It has a good pub with good food
And a great big garden for playing in
And do you know
On the 18th October
In the middle of October
We were able to spend the whole afternoon outside
Playing, running, sitting on blankets on the lawn
Eating, drinking, talking and laughing
It was such a lovely relaxed afternoon
And no one was in any hurry to leave
It was a perfect autumn afternoon
The children all played so nicely together
The adults had chance to really talk
And the sun shone
The day was all about Bea
Beautiful Rainbow Baby, Beatrice Hope
But there was definitely a magical Matilda Mae presence too

Thank you so much to everyone who came
And made Bea’s baptism a day to remember for always
In the eyes of a child…there is joy, there is laughter… there is hope, there is trust, a chance to shape the future…
