For the last few weeks
We have been testing toys for the Slow Toy Awards 2014
It has been an honour to test some wonderful toys
Among them Carddies
These have proved very popular with my 4 year old twins
And the Fairies set was the perfect way to start our Fairy Week
In a Carddies box you get a set of figures to colour in
The figures are double sided, printed onto sturdy card
Each figure has a stander so they become figures to play with
Like dolls or pieces on a board game
Also in the box are Carddies colouring pencils
And a scene or background
These portable play sets
Make great party gifts and stocking fillers
Would be great for little guests at weddings
Also great to take on planes, trains
And to restaurants
I am going to get Esther and William the Nativity set
As an advent present this year
This week in our house is Fairy Week
Esther and I opened the box together
And started some very neat colouring
Esther finds colouring quite tricky
So this project is going to take us a long time
Esther is thankfully happy
To use the characters and the scene while still black and white
This did not seem to limit her story telling imagination
We named the fairies and wrote their names down
Goldilocks, Skin and Father Christmas were the main three!!
Then we started to play
Exploring the world of fairies
With our cardboard friends
Clambering over flower pots
Dancing among the daisies
Making friends with woodland creatures
Sleeping under toadstools
Esther was very soon away with the fairies
Completely absorbed in her imaginary world
Soon William came and joined our play
It was lovely watching them act out scenes together
In the enchanted fairy dell
This was the perfect activity
After a busy morning at school
Starting with creation and colour
Bringing the fairies to life
Then helping the fairies tell their stories
And explore their magical land
The fairies were also taken on adventures in the playroom
Around the house and in the garden
All before being tucked back into their beautiful box
Ready to be played with another day
Carddies – so much more than colouring
And a gentle start to our magical week of fairies
We were sent a Carddies set as part of the judging process for Slow Toy Awards 2014. We were not asked to write a review of the product. My thoughts are all my own and my children’s
I must tell you about the Irish fairy door company. Everytime they post on fb I think of Esther and William and Bea. Please don’t think me overstepping the mark but I did wonder if it could be a magical way to pass messages onto Matilda Mae letting her know what they are doing/feeling etc. Even if not I reckon it’s something your family would love. I love them. I may even get my husband to make our own special one.
Thank you x We have a fairy door that i am going to set up this weekend, there will also be one to win here on my blog x x x Our door will link Tilda’s garden to our playroom x x x x
Oh, what an exciting idea! Can’t wait to hear more.
I love the idea of giving kids some props so they can create their own stories.
