Last year when Prince George was born
I hid away
Anyone who regularly reads this blog
Will know that since losing our own baby
Matilda Mae
I do not deal well with babies
It is really hard when a baby has died
When your baby has died
I no longer coo over newborns
I no longer ask or accept cuddles from babies that are not my own
First birthdays are unbearable
Though perhaps not as hard as seeing babies who are 9 months old
It may sound crazy to you
But this is my life now
Protecting myself from all things baby
Even when the baby is my own
So why then have I agreed to be part of the royal celebration today?
Marking a first birthday of a baby
And one that I do not even know
I did not do it for me
I did it because the Frugi Family are quite simply awesome
Some of the kindest and friendliest people I have had the pleasure of working with
And because here at Edspire we adore the girls at Bump PR
And would do pretty much anything for them
Also because I know that Esther and William might ask me about all this one day
And I want them to know that I tried
That when I could
I tried
Before George was thought of
Or our darling Matilda Mae
Esther was already a Frugi Princess
She wore this beautiful corduroy pinafore dress
The day we celebrated the royal wedding
It seemed fitting somehow to mark the Prince’s birthday today
As part of our duties as a family far funkier than The Royals
We tried and tested a specially made tshirt
To commemorate and celebrate our future king turning one
The Prince George and the Dragon tshirt appealed to Esther and William
And so they have agreed that it is something special for them to share
This week they will share something else rather special
This week Esther and William will have a celebration of their own
As on Thursday my teeny tiny twins turn 4!
Today though was all about the prince
And celebrating his first year
Esther was very keen to get all dressed up for the palace
She chose her best tiara and sparkliest bag to accessorise her Frugi tshirt
Before settling on her princess dress
Being waved on by his twin sister
William donned the limited edition Frugi tshirt
And, of course, his royal crown
Made by Frugi to celebrate Prince George’s first year
Is gorgeous
The top is super soft and I love the choice of colour
The bright sky blue stripe suits boys and girls
And can easily be dressed up or down
I love the applique of Prince George and the Dragon
And love the use of stars
The top is made of organic cotton
So can be worn through all seasons
The envelope neck makes for easy dressing
Of the 0-3 age range that the top is designed for
One of the benefits of being born 13 weeks prem
Is that Esther and William can still easily fit into teeny tiny tot clothes
We are huge fans of Frugi
We love their ethical ethos
And the fact that they support charities
And try their best to protect and preserve our environment
I was very proud and not at all surprised when they were recently awarded
The prestigious Queen’s award for Enterprise
I am incredibly proud to be part of the Frugi Family
And this limited edition tshirt
One of only 60 made
Will be saved for our Rainbow Baby
A product made for a special Prince
Born in the year that Matilda Mae died
Turning one in the year that our Rainbow will be born
We celebrated Prince George today
We chose our royal outfits
Travelled by royal transport
Participated in the #royalride
And made and decorated royal sandcastles
We waved our flags to Matilda Mae
And even included our Rainbow Baby bump
In my heart and mind today
Was another little Georgie
A Georgie who just recently joined Baby Tilda
As an angel in the sky
Georgie was named after Prince George
And I am so so thankful to Frugi and Bump PR
For sending one of their 60 tshirts to his Mummy
I know only too well
How much such a gesture will mean
Fly high little Georgie
Happy First Birthday Prince George
Each of the Frugi Family Bloggers have been gifted one of the special edition tshirts. Find out what Lauren from Real Housewife of Suffolk thought of hers here
Thank you to Frugi and Bump PR for our gift and for Baby Georgie’s too
Thank you x
Finding this hard to write but I felt the same for many years after my loss and just wanted to let you know how special Matilda was to me as she was the first baby I was able to coo after and asked for a cuddle with other then my twins, although it was only that once at twins club when you were trying to give Esther and William some attention and I probably looked almost as awkward as I felt. Its hard to break that wall of self preservation once it’s there and probably makes me appear uncaring but its hard to explain to people why I find it so difficult, but I really have wanted to let you know how Matilda touched my heart and that you are all in my thoughts daily. I hope that I will have a better birth experience with our next baby and that it will help more with bonding and healing and that you too will heal with time and your beautiful rainbow baby but Matilda will always remain not just in your thoughts and heart but in others too
I would have to agree that Frugi family is far my funkier! I love how adorable everyone’s little ones look in their t-shirts. Also so cute to see Rainbow baby rocking the Union Jack 🙂
Painful memories everywhere darling, but well done for taking part and joining our funky family. You are looking swell too, we are all with you on this next phase of your journey. H x
