Back in June David made a water wall from old bits of drain and tubes
I have been wanting a water wall in our garden since we moved into the house in 2012
It is to form a part of a larger sensory play area
This water wall is very much a work in progress
It needs adjusting, amending, extending
And it needs to be made pretty
Right now though it serves a purpose
In that it provides another creative way for us to play
With water
With spiders
And with balls!
I bought Esther and William each a set of small balls to use with the water wall
William has blue rubber bouncy balls
And Esther has pink and purple cat air flow balls with bells inside
I gave them their balls and let them experiment with them
Using the water wall as a ball run
First they played without water
Testing how the balls moved through the tunnels and tubes
They tried dropping the balls into the run
At different heights and speeds
They soon learned which places the balls got stuck
It was not long before the wanted to add water to their play
To try to get the balls out of their sticky positions
Jugs of water were poured into the tubes
To try and help the balls to move along the run
It was great watching Esther and William work together
To get the balls moving through the run
The water wall is still being used all the time
It is in fact very dirty
So this week we are going to play with warm soapy water to give the water wall a clean
We are then going to use the water wall to race some ducks
And to explore mixing colours
We will also be playing with sparkly water filled with glitter and confetti
So many ways to play
So many things to learn
We love our water wall!
This is such a great idea! We are planning on building the boys a play table out of pipes and drains but never thought to put it on the wall
What a fantastic idea!
This looks brilliant. Will definitely have to look at creating one of these.. Izzy would love it!
