Esther: Why do you have tears?
Mummy: Because I am sad
Esther: Why are you sad?
Mummy: I don’t know really
Esther: Why are you sad? Because we were silly?
Mummy: A bit because you and William have been so silly today, a bit because of Baby Tilda
Esther: Because Baby Tilda died?
Mummy: Yes, because Baby Tilda died
Esther: The new baby is coming soon though
Mummy: Yes she is
Esther: We should call her Baby Tilda
Mummy: We cannot do that
Esther: But then you would be happy again
My beautiful eldest daughter
She gives good cuddles
Says the things that probably everyone else is thinking
Because she can
I wish she didn’t have to
I wish that none of us had to
But I was thankful for my three year old today
For finding me
And as she wrapped her arms around me
I remembered how blessed I am
We are
To have one another
In the midst of the madness
The badness
The sadness
Is the beautiful gladness
My eldest daughter brings
Lovely girl x

That picture of you cuddling each other at the end is perfection. Your eyes are alight – she brings you alive. I can see how hard she’s squeezing you and how much she loves you. What a lucky mummy you are to have her. xxx
