Esther and William love to get their craft on
They love making things
In all we do they make a mess
A marvellous sensory mess
But often times they are also now able to make an effective end product
I am good at ideas for messy and sensory play
But art and craft ideas, successful ones, mostly come from Daddy
And so I was very excited when we were asked by Bump PR and Asobi Toys
To review a collage kit from Orb Factory
This is a brand that we are familiar with
As we have used their sticky mosaics in the past
And we actually reviewed them here on the blog
My First Creative Collages are the next step on from My First Sticky Mosaics
We were sent a princess and a dinosaur set
Esther and William were thrilled and keen to get going as soon as they saw them
Each set includes three pictures to make into framed collages
The pictures have sticky back sections where you add the colour coded collage materials provided
Green glitter, purple pom poms, pink foam, silver shimmer
The pictures are easy to follow and it is easy to get a great result
I was really pleased with how quickly and independently Esther and William understood what they need to do
I was also proud of how focused they were on a project that required them to be delicate and careful
Each completed set gives three pictures with hangers to hang them on the wall
A lovely way for a little one to create a gift or decorate their own space in the home
It is also a lovely activity that lets a child be creative in a controlled way
A structured way
Until they are ready to create collages of their own
The colour coding and the different textures of materials
Makes this a lovely sensory activity
A great way to develop children’s understanding of following a code
It enables you to explore pattern and composition
And discuss reasons for using different materials for different parts of the pictures
Esther and William needed a lot of support and encouragement with their first pictures
By the end of their third, Esther in particular, was adding little touches of her own
She added pink blossom and red apples to the green trees
As she began to understand the aim of making a collage
And the way that the different materials could be combined together
For different effects
This was a lovely calm activity that we did after breakfast
We stayed at the table after we had eaten
Often in our pyjamas
And we got crafty
I think this is something that we are now going to introduce regularly to our routine
An early morning, after breakfast, craft or guided activity before we get down to the business of play
Orb Factory make crafting easy
By supplying everything that you need in the box
That makes these kits perfect for taking out and about
To restaurants, Granny’s house, on holiday
The price makes them great value for money
And they would be fab presents and prizes for children’s birthday parties
We have loved exploring ours and are really pleased with our finished frames

My son adores painting, he will paint anything and everything and gets so much enjoyment from it 🙂 x
I like this idea, it would make a great thing to have in the cupboard for when children come to visit ( I am kind of sad like that!), what age would you say it would go up to for how I would like to use it? I get children (boys and girls) currently up to 7 which I guess may be too old – but then again, they like playing with the Duplo still – I don’t know.
These are My First Creative Collages there are also Creative Collages which would be for children from 5 and up I would say x These are 3+
cool, thanks Jennie, I think I have some shopping to do!
We love going to the woods and finding pine cones, leaves and sticks to make crafts with at home, we paint and glitter the pine cones and have made some hedgehogs with some. With leavs they’re great for making fish with or doing rubbings and sticks can be used for all manner of things like making stick insects! 🙂
The only thing I don’t like about them is how gender orientated they are!
There are other sets to choose from, we chose princesses and dinosaurs as that is what Esther and William like at the moment x They both love both, Esther is just as happy with dinosaurs as William is with princesses x
Oh that’s good 🙂 I thought you had been sent them ( with no choice)!
I would love to win this, love your blog posts and find arts and crafts materials so expensive!
These kits look great fun, but as previously mentioned it is disappointing that they are so gender orientated. A more gender neutral kit of eg animals would be much more appealing to me than princesses or dinosaurs.
These were just the two that we chose, Esther and William each chose the one that they liked the most. There are also birds and monsters and butterflies, sea creatures and more x
we have just discovered sticky mosaics and love them, in fact anything that involves sticking my kids love!
Potato or sponge printing using paints
making pompom keychain toys out of wool 😀 so easy to make and look fab 🙂
Lovely sets!
My littles love stickiwiki
My Daughter has always liked painting, using coloured crayons or pencils and playing with playdoh or equivalent
This looks great. We love leaf printing and you can cut the picture into a shape. Scarlett has a dinosaur x
