Fairies are invisible and inaudible like angels. But their magic sparkles in nature.

!Mummy, we are making the water pretty!”
“Come and see!”
I walk the length of the garden
Wondering what I might find in the water
Petals
Sprigs of green
Burst of blossom
A collection of colour
Esther and William were filling the water table
With flowers
I remembered my own childhood
Using flower petals to make perfume
Esther and William were doing something far more magical than that
Creating a world for flower fairies
Of course!
The sun was shining
Making the water sparkle
The glittering ripples
Littered with colour
Felt magical
The perfect home for flower fairies
The perfect place for fairies to come and play
To come and dip their wings in the shimmering waves
Esther added pink chalk as sand
She created rafts with leaves and bark
Fairy babies floated on the water wrapped in leaves
While the older fairies splashed and played
And swam with the Puffer Fish!
As all good fairies do
Esther and William acted out stories
Of fairy families and friends
They played together beautifully
Beneath the beams of the Spring sunshine
And all I could think was
“Is this your life now, Matilda Mae?”
Our beautiful angel
Our star of the sea
Is this how you play with your fairy friends?
Making the most of the world
And all it can be?
Esther and William played for ages
Testing different wood and leaves
For boats
Lots of things floated on the water
But could not take the weight of the fairies
We are going to do more work on floating and sinking
But this
This was all about the magic of fairies
And Matilda Mae
And as the seasons come and go, here’s something you might like to know. There are fairies everywhere: under bushes, in the air, playing games just like you play, singing through their busy day. So listen, touch, and look around – in the air and on the ground. And if you watch all nature’s things, you might just see a fairy’s wing.

Beautiful Matilda Mae xx
What a lovely post with stunning pictures of your gorgeous children. Brought a tear to my eye to think of Matilda Mae and all the beautiful babies I’ve known who were taken too soon, playing happily amongst the flowers and water xxx
What beautiful photos! S loves to play with water; maybe I’ll try something like this with her!
What wonderful imagination they both have! x
