“If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.”
― Albert Einstein
My children are courageous and brave
They befriend bears and dragons
They battle big bad wolves
They play in palaces and defend castles
My children are curious and creative
They would climb the tallest beanstalk
Tumble down the deepest well
They would follow the least trodden path
Looking for adventure
My children are heroes and heroines
Scallywags and scamps
Kings and princesses
Witches and wizards
With magical powers
My children love stories
Imaginative play
My children love learning
Building and doing
Getting lost in the wonder of their own and shared games.
My children love playing
I love playing
Daddy loves playing
And we all love
Well made, durable, toys
That promote creative educational play

Who sent us a small collection to review
Beginning with the fairytale palace and the rather striking castle construction set.
WOW!
These building blocks are smaller than I thought they might be.
Each set creates a complete scene for play.
A fairytale palace and a castle complete with it’s very own knights.
The blocks from Plan Toys at The Toadstool are well made from sustainable, eco friendly wood, non toxic water based dyes and organic glue.
The look and feel of the blocks is stunning.
I love the use of colour and pattern.
I love the shapes of the different blocks.
These blocks feel good in your hand.
You can build up your castle or palace following the designs on the box or you can create your very own designs.
Manipulating the blocks and putting them together in different configurations means that through their play little ones are developing their fine motor skills, their spatial awareness and their ability to think creatively, logically and solve design problems.
With turrets and towers, spiral staircases and climbing ivy
These are definitely blocks from tales of old and they are perfect for preschoolers who long to be knights, kings, princesses and queens.
They are perfect for reenacting myths and legends from times gone by
They give the perfect scene to begin to explore the concept of goodies and baddies
Heroes and heroines as all good fairytales do
Each set can be used alone or to create a more elaborate design you can put the sets together or combine with any other wooden building blocks that you may have around.
Plan Toys Palace and Castle sets are initially construction sets.
Beautiful building blocks.
But they are so much more than that.
They can be used to extend and enhance other small world sets.
William has already used the castle as Godrid’s Castle from the Thomas movie, King of the Railway.
They can be used as props for storytelling. The fairytale palace has a tower for Rapunzel to be locked in and a spiral staircase where a lost glass slipper might be found.
These stunning blocks would make a wonderful gift this Christmas.
Each set costs around £20 making them affordable for friends and family as a gift to give this year that will last for many many years and will bring pleasure for generations to come.
Fairy tales are timeless
The stories last and grow
From generation to generation
And because of that
I believe that these classic building block sets
Will stand the test of time too
I can think of many worse ways to spend my time
“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
― Neil Gaiman, Coraline
We were sent one palace set and one castle set for the purpose of this review
These have to be the cutest bricks I have ever seen! Look like so much fun! x
