I was so honoured when organising the Matilda Mae Welly Walk to receive an email from The Rainy Day Box Company offering to run a craft stall for our family day.
I really love The Rainy Day Craft Boxes and I love the fact that the company are local to me.
I was very disappointed on the day of the walk that I did not get to make a star wand with Esther and William, and I was incredibly touched when Aly gave us all we would need to make some Matilda Mae star wands at home.
On Tuesday Ami from Beebies Baby Store came to play at our house and left us with some beautiful Christmas craft kits and one pack of star wands.
Yesterday Esther, William and I had glorious fun making sparkly pink and purple wands to wave to Baby Tilda.
We started with the kit from Beebies that included foam stars on sticks adorned with a pink feather. The pack also had some fairy stickers and sticky jewels. Esther and I worked together to make a pictorial star and a jewelled star. William did not like these stars because he wanted a flat one!!
Both children loved the Rainy Day Box stars for one simple reason they came with icky sticky runny gooey glitter glue…
… which meant they could cover themselves, indulge in some sensory play and wash their hands over and over again. What is it with toddlers and the joy they get from washing their hands?
We covered our card stars with the pink and purple glittery glue. The stars shone and sparkled beautifully in the late afternoon light of our playroom.
We had to leave the stars to dry before we could add the purple jewels that Aly provided, so while we waited we played. Esther loved smearing the glue all over paper and feeling it run through her fingers.
While she was busy I wrote a pink and purple jewelled M for our angel, Matilda Mae.
Esther and William adore stars. We all do. They have become our way of making things special for Matilda Mae. Whenever Esther and William see anything with a star they think it must be for or from Baby Tilda. We all love pink and purple too and have these as our special Tilda colours.
It was very emotional for me watching Esther and William take pride in making their stars and waving them at Baby Tilda in the sky.
I think she was waving back to us too!
Thank you very much to The Rainy Day Box Company for supporting the Matilda Mae Welly Walk and for making sure we all had a chance to wave our stars to Baby Tilda in the sky.
If you have not yet tried a Rainy Day Box with your little one please do. The Christmas one looks great!
