I really had no idea what to expect of Potters 5 Star Holiday Village.
Perhaps I vaguely imagined Center Parcs but posher?
What we found was something more like the Pontins and Haven holidays I remember going on as a child in the 1980s.
Lots of terraced rooms arranged in rows around greens and seating areas with connectng paths.
There was crazy golf and swing ball and lots of grass for playing on.
The rooms are called Bungalows but they are rooms with a bath or shower room.
We had two adjoining ‘bungalows’ with interconnecting doors to provide enough sleeping room for the four of us.
The rooms had tea and coffee facilities, a fridge and towels provided.
We stayed Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Our room was serviced on the Saturday and the Monday by a lovely girl who was very friendly to Esther and William and took great care with our things.
The rooms were simple and clean and after putting one bed on top of another we were able to make enough space for the two travel cots we needed.
I do not think people come to Potters for the accommodation.
They come for the facilities and the entertainment.
There really is something for everyone.
The community atmosphere starts from the moment you check in and are greeted by a giant Panda!
Check in was quick and easy and all the staff were very helpful and friendly.
After finding our room we headed to the swimming pool.
The water was warm and there are three pools. A small training pool for children to use, a toddler splash pool and a large leisure pool with some lanes for swimming.
William loved the fact that you could swim from inside to outside.
We had a lovely time at the pool playing with the floats and noodles provided.
After swimming we went to dinner. It was the only dinner we had all together as the earliest time you can have dinner at Potters is 6.30pm.
I think this is very late for small people, especially three years olds like ours who go to bed at 6.30pm.
The dinner was lovely.
Our waiter was very friendly, there was lots of choice and the service was quick.
The restaurant had a grand staircase in the centre and it really did feel very grand.
Esther and William loved the statues and fountains in the reception area. They were fascinated with them and touched them and talked about them every day we were there.
Esther and William loved exploring the resort.
Our feelings were quite mixed on arrival at Potters.
We went to bed wondering what the morning might bring.
Two of our party were very keen to try out the Panda Play Bus!
We received a four night family break in return for an honest review of our stay.
Clearly not an enjoyable experience! Horrible when you make all of the effort to go away with young children then are disappointed.
We were a bit disappointed when we arrived but mostly because of our expectations and also i think our children are a little too young to get the best out of the resort. I have three more days to write up and you will see that we warm to the resort x
Oh dear, such a shame when somewhere doesn’t live up to expectations. Not a great experience then?
