At the back of our house we have half an acre of grass and trees
Some Magnolia tree that everyone tells me is rare and amazing
And lots and lots of apple trees
Daddy is going to use the apples to make cider and apple juice
Cider mostly
We are going to use the apples for arts and crafts and play.
I have been busy collating ideas over on Pinterest.
Here is my Apple Board so far.
A few weeks ago when our apples were still small and first started falling from the trees
I decided to do some printing with them.
Esther and William collected some fallen apples in their little wheelbarrows. I got some poster paints and some old cardboard boxes to print on to.
I put splodges of paint on to the card and we carefully cut the apples in half, revealing the stars inside.
Esther and William got stuck in straight away. Dabbing and printing with apples.
I got some paper to make pictures that we might put up on the playroom wall. The printing was starting to look really promising and we talked about making caterpillars with our prints.
After not even five minutes of printing on paper, Esther and William decided it was far better fun to print on each other!
I was quite impressed with how carefully they painted each other and the results were really quite stunning, to start with!
In the end though they were both just covered in apple juice and paint.
But they had the most wonderful time
All finished off with a rinse in the ball filled paddling pool.
A magical messy apple filled day.
Your patience is admirable. I would’ve freaked at the point when the child-led art actually became child-led. Esther and William are so lucky to have such an inspired mummy!
I promise to keep reading and take baby steps in edspiration from you Jennie.
What a fab idea! I will definitely give this a go!
We have an apple tree at the back of our new garden – brilliant idea, thanks!
What fun! I’d love an apple tree – we live in a new house with very few plants and trees ~ I might plant some fruit trees!
