This week the prompt for the Keep Britain Breastfeeding Scavenger Hunt is Breastfeeding Beyond the First Month.
I have now been breastfeeding Matilda Mae for 7 weeks and am on my second lot of antibiotics for a second violent bout of mastitis! Each bout has been accompanied with horrible shakes and fever. It has not been pleasant at all but Matilda Mae has continued unperturbed. She loves her mummy milk and apart from the problems for me she does not seem to be suffering at all. She already weighs 11lb 6oz so she is definitely getting milk.
Feeding Matilda is such a very different experience from feeding my premature twins.
Esther and William were born at 27 weeks and though they only ever had breast milk I was not able to feed them myself for 6 weeks. Instead they had my milk a ml at a time through a tube.
I have written the story of breastfeeding premature twins before and it is that story I would like to direct you to again now as I feel it fits the prompt of breastfeeding beyond the first month.
I fed the twins for 15 months in the end, something of which I am very proud.

Thank you x
And so you should be proud too! breastfeeding twins is an achievement in itself, prem twins, double the achievement, 27 week prem twins, tripple the achievement! x
