So with less than a month to go until Brit Mums Live 2012 I need to start making some plans.
I will be travelling by train to London with Matilda Mae. I will be bringing her in her Chicco Nunu but will also have a sling or carrier with me for if things get tricky. I am hoping that they won’t.
I am not sure if I am going to be nervous travelling to London on my own with Matilda or excited? I will have the whole train journey to just stare at her and talk to her and I cannot wait for that. I cannot wait to have a whole double bed to just me and her. In a way I wish that we were going to have more time to laze in bed together in the morning but the schedule is action packed. We will be up and out of our hotel early doors.
Because this is not a mother and daughter mini break, it is a blogging conference and I will be there to learn.
It is my first official blogging event and I cannot wait to feel the buzz that I know such a happening must create. An air of excitement and creativity, a sense of commitment and purpose, a standing of motherhood and a whole heap of fun. I truly cannot wait!
My train journey to London is a long one. I had considered getting the fast train but I think if I get the slow train I am guaranteed a seat and I will come in to Victoria which is closer to where I want to be. Or at least it is an easier tube route! The tube with a buggy. I must be mad!
So my plan is to leave Kent in the morning and get to London with pleny of time. I want to see Esther and William before I leave and I do not want to be in too much of a rush so will get the train about 10am which will get me into London just after 11.
I am going to go to the hotel first and see if there is any chance of an early check in to freshen up and to leave some of my belongings in the room before heading to the conference venue. I want to be there in plenty of time to watch others arrive and to soak up the atmosphere as it builds. I also want plenty of time to feed and change Matilda before the main events begin.
So my plan is to be at The Brewery by 1.30pm at the latest.
Brit Mums Live 2012 officially kicks off at 2.00pm with registration followed by coffee and cake. This is an hour of time to find some friends and get to know the bloggers and brands in attendance.
At 3pm we will be welcomed by the creators of Brit Mums before a chance of getting to know the personality that is Ruby Wax.
There is then a talk about British Blogging Now before breaking for coffee and choosing our afternoon session.
I am hoping that my first ever blogging workshop will be Crossing the Chasm: How To Bring Your Blog Up To The Next Level.
This will be followed by drinks, nibbles and the BIB Awards Ceremony.
I am really looking forward to then going back to my hotel room with Matilda Mae to reflect on our day. I am going to try and blog as soon as I can so that I do not miss any detail of not only what I learn and who I meet but also how I feel.
On Saturday Matilda Mae and I are going to have our breakfast in bed before heading back to the conference.
I am really excited about hearing Sarah Brown speak on the Saturday and I am looking forward to my workshops too.
I hope to attend the two part Blogging Essentials session. I feel like I am blagging my blogging much of the time and would like to make Edspire my job rather than just a hobby. For this dream to become a reality I need to make enough money from the blog to send Esther and William to nursery to give me some regular focused time to write. With this in mind I also want to attend the workshop, Perks and Pounds, about making money from and through your blog.
Another session that I hope to attend is the vlogging session as this is an area that I am keen to develop and explore.
The final session for me will be Writing Your Life. I want to strive to improve my writing skills and technique. I have always loved writing and have been told that I am quite good at it but I want to be better. There is always room to improve and in my case plenty!
When choosing workshops I have been thinking about me and my blog but also the companies that I work with and represent. I want the conference to benefit them too, particularly the fabulous Bundlebean and Snoozeshade who are making it possible for me to go.
After the conference ends I will have that long journey home again. A time to reflect on all I have seen and heard throughout what I am certain will be a life changing opportunity.
I am going to Brit Mums Live and I hope to see you there!
