Today’s indulgence whilst Esther and William sleep is looking at gifts for Baby. So many people I know are pregnant at the moment that finding individual, unique gifts that can also be useful is really hard. Today I am making a list of presents I would like for my own baby but also ones I may buy for others who are on their way. Welcoming a new baby is such an exciting and special time and the giving of gifts is an important part of our celebrations. It is tradition. Many traditional presents such as clothes and memory boxes are being given new twists and I want to share some of these and more alternative ideas with you. Here is my list of Gifts for Baby.
Born Gifted is a site I have used before for first birthdays and christenings but their newborn ideas are exquisite. On my wishlist for Matilda Bump would be a Sophie La Giraffe Teether. Esther and William had one of these which we lost very early on but I remember how much they loved it. I know Matilda will too.
We have a bit of a bunny theme going with the gifts we have so far bought for Matilda Bump so this Rabbit Ruby from Happy Horse would be a perfect addition to her nursery collection.
Continuing with the rabbit theme are these gorgeous bunny booties. They are just too cute for a baby girl. What sweet feet!
Clothes are a great present for babies. All babies need clothes and there are soem wonderful companies around now producing beautiful, funky, environmentally and skin friendly clothing. Here are some of my favourites:
The Kyna Boutique is a website that stocks and sells organic clothes and accessories for babies and young children. I love this ladybird romper as a present for a little girl. And this wonderful midnight blue Bamboo romper for a little boy.
One of my favourite baby clothes websites is Green Baby. At the moment I have my eye on these summer rompers. The cute birdie print and the garden bugs pattern are just lovely for a little girl.
I am also a fan of Frugi where I found this gorgeous Daisy Chain sleepsuit with a range of matching accessories. How cute would our little one look in this? You can actually buy this set as a boxed baby gift set. Such a great idea!
The Little Green Sheep sells a beautiful, organic newborn baby sleepset containing a playsuit, a night gown and a baby bodysuit. It is beautifully presented in a box and would make a wonderful first present. We have been kindly sent a nightgown for Matilda to try so watch out for our review coming very soon!
Moving away from clothes I love By Carla for products such as bumpers, blankets and super soft rugs. By Carla Bumpies are double sided cot bumpers that protect baby from bumps and bruises but also stimulate baby and help to develop their focus and vision. When Esther and William were little we used to sellotape black and white pictures to the side of their crib so this would be a welcome upgrade from that!
Mamas and Papas also sell beautiful blankets and playthings for newborns. I love this Gingerbread blanket so much and think it would be wonderful for girly snuggles. I also love the Made With Love range at Mamas and Papas and would happily accept any of it for Matilda Bump. This activity spiral is a particular favourite for a little girl. I also love this soft giraffe rattle that I was kindly given by Mamas and Papas as part of my Baby Show VIP Blogger goody bag with Azaria PR.
I think the best newborn toy I have seen is a Haba Ball from Toyjeanius.
This is a fabric ball of discovery and I think it would make a wonderful first play thing for our little girl.
Baby clothes bouquets are popular gifts and I think that Baby Blooms provide some of the best. I love this pink bouquet for a baby girl and the presentation of these clothes would be uplifting I am sure for any new Mum.
Gurgle Box sell a beautiful range of presents for new babies. I was very cheeky and asked if I would be able to review one of their products for them to give you a better idea of the quality of the gifts they provide. The images on the website are wonderful and incredibly cute. From gorgeous knitted hats to fluffy bunnies with knitted mittens and booties. There is a veritable selection box of choice. I love the Finger and Toes – Raspberry Kisses gift box (notice the continuation of the bunny theme) and will write a full review of this beautiful baby box very soon.
Nappy cakes are another great gift idea for new mummies and their babies. Believe me, especially as a Mummy of twins, you can never have too many nappies! There are lots of companies providing these practical gifts including Creations by Carla who you can find on Facebook. I love this Guess How Much I Love You Nappy Cake from BestBabyShower.co.uk
MamaBabyBliss a company I featured in my Gifts for New Mums Wish List also sell great gifts for babies. My favourite, I think, is the Little Bag of Baby Bliss. This gift set includes Hugs Natural Baby Oil, Splash Gentle Bath Wash and Botty Bliss Nappy Cream. All natural ingredients that are recommended for use once Baby is one month old.
Another great gift idea for babies is the gift of a book with the hope that it will begin a life long love of books and stories. For new babies of friends and family I would choose stories that have proved popular with Esther and William such as Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Owl Babies. For my little nephew Toby I bought Mick Inkpen’s Nothing as it features a character called Toby. A book is a great gift that can be chosen specifically for the baby in question. I think there is something truly special in that.
There are so many beautiful present ideas for newborns and their mummies that I could just go on and on. I have a couple of special features coming up over the next couple of weeks of specific present ideas. I am also going to write my list of essential bits for mummy and baby that will include the fabulous BundleBean and Snoozeshade.
I hope that this list has proved helpful to you if you are expecting a new baby in your family or friendship circles.
If there are any gifts that you think I have missed off my list then I would love to hear about them in the comments below.
These are great gifts and they are so useful too. In today’s economic climate these make fabulous presents which are really well received by parents on a budget.
Great list. I’d add the large organic gift basket from Lullaby Babies.. v pricey but actually good value as there’s 20 really useful organic items: http://www.lullaby-babies.co.uk/organic-luxury-gift-basket-20pc/
Thanks for sharing such a fantastic range of baby and new parent gifts, they are all affordable and practical – thanks for sharing the links to websites too, making it easier to find the items you mention!

Thank you for sharing, fantastic ideas. Personally, my favourite kind of baby gifts are clothes bouquets. They’re very pretty to look at and practical too! Moms love them. 🙂
