A while ago we were sent a Leap Frog Learn and Groove Music Table as part of the Toys R Us Toyologist Programme. We gave ours away to a friend who wrote a wonderful guest review for Edspire. The reason we gave this away is that Esther and William have had one of these tables since they were about 6 months old. It is a toy that has truly grown with them and aided their development along the way, though I have to say that they are yet to start speaking in French!
The Leap Frog Learn and Groove Music Table is a fabulous toy for babies through to toddlerhood! It encourages baby to press buttons, flick switches, slide sliders and roll rollers and every action that they make is rewarded by a musical sound.
The table has three different modes, music, learning and French. Each mode teaches children different concepts such as open/close, high/low, up/down. It also teaches shapes, colours, numbers 1-10 and letters all in a musical way.
The buttons and sliders are shaped like musical instruments and the mode can be changed by turning the pages of a plastic book that makes up the centre of the table.
When Esther was tiny we used to sit her on top of the table where she would happily change the mode over and over.
The music table also encourages children to reach different development milestones. When we first used this table we removed the legs so that Esther and William could crawl around the table and use it on their tummies.
As they learned to sit they could sit around the table top on the ground.
When we clicked the legs back on to the table Esther and William could use it to pull themselves up then they would stand and play with the table and move around it to find the buttons or sliders that they particularly wanted to use.
Now Esther and William stand at the table to play but do not need to use the table as a standing aid, instead they are able to flick and push and twist and roll with both hands.
Esther and William have also found many alternative uses for their table. It makes a great tunnel for example or a place to play Peek a Boo with each other. It is a makeshift walker and can even be turned upside down and used as a rocking chair (not recommended!)
I can see this table being part of our daily routine for a long time to come and other toys we have with similar functionality are honestly nowhere near as good.
The batteries seem to last a long time in this toy and we have ours on all the time. Also, the Learn and Groove Table really does have groovy music to listen to and I sometimes even find myself singing along. This is the least irritating muscial toy that we own and I would no hesitation buying it as a present for families and friends, confident that I would not be cursed by the parents!
This is a great toy for twins to share and they even make room for their friends and cousins when they come round to play. It encourages communication, teamwork and sharing (of sorts!).
And if it does encourage them to learn French along the way? Then that has to be a bonus too!
A fabulous fun toy for all the family available at Toys R Us for a more than worth it £34.99.
