We have just returned from ten days in Spain, on our post wedding family moon. Esther and William were so excited to be home and amongst their own things including all their toys again.
I did not think before we left that either baby had a particular affection for any toy but on Sunday Esther proved me wrong. I said to both Esther and William, “Press a letter button!” and Esther immediately crawled at speed to the Leap Frog Lettersaurus, pushed the button to make him play and then danced, as only Esther can, to the alphabet song!
So cute was her wiggling that it has made this toy a winner for me.
She just loves her Lettersaurus!! Here is our review.
Lettersaurus is a great toy for toddlers. It has become our buggy boogie box and we take it with us everywhere we go.
We mostly use it on music mode at the moment and Esther and William have started dancing or singing along to the songs that they know. You can play a great game of name that tune with toddlers who have language. Esther and William, who have very few words, prefer to do actions to the songs. They can touch their heads when they hear the start of Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes and enthusiastically sing along to The Wheels on the Bus. This is fast becoming their party trick with the help of our trusty travelling Lettersaurus. Because the songs are all instrumental versions you can use Lettersaurus as a Kids Karaoke machine which I just know Esther will love as she gets more words.
Lettersaurus can also be used in ‘letter mode’. In this mode each button gives you the letter name and an animal or object beginning with the letter. If you press the button again it tells you not only the letter name but also the letter sound. As a primary school teacher I think this element is very important in the beginnings of teaching children to read and spell. It is never too early to develop good habits and Lettersaurus does just that.
There is a third mode which teaches babies and toddlers the names of the colours that correspond with the buttons that decorate friendly dinosaur’s back.
What a great educational toy! And even though this cute little dinosaur is made of plastic it is definitely getting it’s fair share of cuddles in the Edspire household.
A great product from Leap Frog for the little learners in your life.
Lettersaurus is available from Toys R Us stores and online for the very reasonable price of £14.99. A steal!
Here is Esther wiggling wildly to the Alphabet Song!
They are too cute for words!
