This week’s Listography is ‘Top 5 Things I’d Change About My Wedding Day’. Regular readers of this blog will know that David and I are not married yet but soon will be. Very soon in fact. We have just four months to go!!
With that in mind I thought that I would share the Top 5 Things That I Want on My Wedding Day.
Here goes:
1 A church ceremony filled with readings, hymns and music. Ours is a family celebration and I want this to be reflected through the service. I want the children to have musical instruments to play during the music and singing. I want as many little flowergirls as bridesmaids. I want lots of school hymns to be sung and readings to be from children’s books. I have planned out much of the ceremony and we meet with the vicar in May to approve the final details. Our vicar is wonderful and very creative. He will enjoy the challenge of our family focused fun filled ceremony.
2 Champagne moments on a horse and carriage with David.
We have booked our horse and carriage so I know that this moment is possible. The journey from the church to the reception hall will take approximately 45 minutes and I want this to be a special time for David and I to enjoy our first hour as husband and wife together before we celebrate with the masses. This is going to be our quiet time between the service and the party and I cannot wait. I want to hold his hand and kiss him and just reflect on the vows we will have just made and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for us as newlyweds!!!
You can see our horse and carriage here. Our horse is Ottawa.
3 A rustic country fayre feel to the reception
The plan is to have afternoon tea and a barn dance in a marquee decked out with bales of hay and gingham bunting. We will also be having outdoor games and fairground type stalls like Hook the Duck. As with the ceremony our reception is going to be very family focused and so we are going to create a soft play area for toddlers and babies and an arts and crafts table for older children.
4 To use music throughout the day to punctuate important events
David and I both love music and I really want this to come across on our weding day. I want to remember key events from our special day when we hear certain songs. I am going to talk about this more on my blog in coming weeks and have already talked about music for walking down the aisle
5 To feel beautiful in my dress and confident in myself
I am really worried about this actually. This is my one day and I want to be at my most beautiful and I’m not sure that I know how. I have a beautiful, very simple dress but I am not very good at accessorizing . I wish that I had a Fairy Godmother like Cinderella who could help me get ready for the ball. I would love help with hair, jewellery, shoes, accessories and make up. Things I never seem to get quite right. I want to look like a naturally more pretty version of me! I want David to be pleased with what he sees as I walk up the aisle to meet him and become his wife.
So, these are 5 things I wish for on our wedding day. I want it to be perfect, I want all our friends and family to come and have a fabulous time and I want it to be the start of a new and exciting chapter for David and I.
I can’t wait!!
OMG, this sounds like an awesome wedding! So lovely, and obviously exactly what you want. And gingham bunting…? Yeeeees… 🙂
And btw, your fiance will think you’re beautiful even if you walk down the aisle in a binbag and fez. Fact. But if you think you need some help, ask a good friend to help with hair/make up etc. I had someone do my hair for me and it was so much better than if I’d tried myself!!
Best of luck with the rest of the preparations…
Oh thank you for such a lovely comment. I have grown my hair really long for the wedding and want it all in ringlets. I hope to wear it up for the ceremony and the day but take it down for the evening. David prefers me with my hair down! I am going to have a make up lesson I think in the summer but then do my make up myself. i do not really wear make up though especially not since having the twins!!
So much to think about but it is starting to get exciting now!
Oh how lovely! Don’t forget your post-wedding post to keep us all updated!
I am going to be blogging about all the preparations and plans and the day itself. I am very excited about it and looking forward to hsaring it with everyone and getting help with the final planning stages. There are so many creative bloggers and tweeters, I am hoping they will be able to reassure me and add ideas to the pot too!
Sounds like it’s going to be perfect – I am sure he thinks your perfect and accessories won’t change that (but I do have a suggestion – have you tried thought about the online stylist – I follow her on twitter she’s brilliant).
Enjoy your preparations – I will follow your progress with interest X
Thank you. I will look for the online stylist on Twitter x
