Usually when I buy books for the babies I do so online but today Esther and I went into Waterstones to choose a book to buy with her Easter giftcard from her Godmother, Laura.
We looked at lots of books together and decided to go for one that was sturdy enough for Esther to read by herself. We found a book with the perfect title, Baby Loves: Giraffe and on further inspection decided to buy it.
Baby Loves: Giraffe is one in a series of three board books with large flaps to lift and a mirror to peek into. It is about a giraffe who loves her friends, the zebra, the elephant, the lion and the baby! All the animals are hiding under large patterned flaps and Esther found herself as the baby in the story by peeking into the mirror. This is a very simple book that can be read time and time again and used for peek-a-boo games. We had great fun with this book together and then Esther sat and read it by herself. She cannot read of course but she was able to lift the large flaps and she knows which way to turn the pages. The pictures in the book are very cute and the patterns are bold and bright, perfect for a developing baby’s eyes.
What a wonderful Easter present this was from Godmother Laura. Thank you Laura. We chose the giraffe book because when Esther was in NICU her comfort blanket was a giraffe and the doctors used to always know who she was because of her blanket. A perfect gift.
Happy Easter!
