Today Esther and William are 7 weeks old. David and I spent the morning with them together. It was a lovely morning. We washed them, changed them, weighed them and fed them. It was wonderful having David there during feeds, calming and reassuring. I love him so much.
Esther’s weight stayed the same today 1790g and William has gained 25g. He is now 2045g. They both did good breastfeeding this morning and have started half top ups!
Almira has also suggested moving William to 4 hourly feeding so that he starts to feel hungry. He is always awake though when it is time for Esther to be fed, he stays awake and is then exhausted for his own feeds!
I am cross that I forgot my camera and my diary today. I had to get some scrap paper from Almira. She has been wonderful today, full of advice about feeding and expressing. Elizabeth popped in to say hello and Louise visited too.
Today has been a really nice day.
William has managed two 10 minute feeds with half top ups. Esther has only had one as she is quite sleepy. I am happy to let them sleep, conserve their energy and put on some weight.
Tomorrow we are going to try Esther on alternative feeds, starting at 8.30am, so we need to get to the hospital at 8.00am to do her cares. We will aim to leave the house at 7.30am and we might just get there in time!
Both babies look so beautiful and peaceful as they sleep. William has snuggled right down in his blankets and looks so sweet. Esther has the face of an angel. She really is beautiful. Beautiful and sleepy.
I am feeling more relaxed about the feeding today. It will take as long as it takes. I will take lots of snacks, books, drinks and patience to the hospital each day and feed them as often as they wake.
