Today we arrived just before 9am to find that we are no longer the only twins! We have been joined by 33 week old, yet to be named, girls who have just been born.
We also have a new nurse today so this will also take some getting used to. She has never looked after Esther and William before.
Both babies are fine. William is doing very well. His nasal cannula has been removed and his desaturations were very few and far between. He has gained another 10g in weight so is now exactly 1900 grams.
Esther’s weight has stayed the same at 1625g. She does have her nasal cannula but is in air. She is having quite a few desats but they are mostly fleeting. The doctor is pleased with both babies but Esther’s Hb is dropping again so she may be transfused again mid week. They will redo blood tests on Tuesday, I think.
Two babies from our ward have been promoted to special care. I am glad that we are not moving yet as I like the nurses where we are.
We are 6 weeks old today! It is funny how it feels so much longer. I cannot imagine my life without mhy children now. I cannot remember my life without them. And I wouldn’t want to. I love them both so much.
Had lunch with one of the other Mummys today. We swapped birth and baby stories which was nice.
I have got some black and white shapes to stick to the twin’s cot to help them learn to focus their vision.

I think that they are still a bit young for them but I want them to have them all the same.
