Minibeasts are much loved here at Edspire HQ
We are blessed with a beautiful garden filled with toads, newts, dragonflies, butterflies and bees
The children love watching them and learning about them and so I knew that Betsy Buglove Saves The Bees would be a hit
Betsy Buglove would fit in with my little ones just perfectly!
A girl who loves bugs. Who saves insects in trouble and with the help of magic magnifying glass handed down from her Gran Betsy can understand and communicate with the tiny creatures.
Betsy is called by the honeybees, they need her help. The boy next door has a new bike and his Dad is going to pave over the garden to make a space to ride. Betsy promises to save the bees and sets to work. Together with all the garden inhabitants they come up with a plan to concoct a cocoon to trap Stan from next door and plead with him to save his garden and all that live in it including the honeybees. It turns out that Stan is scared of bugs and so brilliant Betsy and her garden friends teach him all about the amazing garden ecosystem and how all creatures great and small have a role to play. Betsy shoes Stan how to be a friend to the minibeasts and shows us all that we can make a difference.
This is a beautiful book perfect for sharing with little ones who are not keen on bugs, perfect for sharing with curious little nature explorers, perfect for inspiring little readers to get busy in the garden making changes to save the bees and help all the other bugs too.
The illustrations are stunning. Every spread is teeming with insects to identify and describe. There are lots of flowers and plants to spot in the garden scenes. The super endpapers are filled with fascinating facts about minibeasts. There is so much to love about this beautiful book including a protagonist that everyone wants to be friends with.
We love Betsy Buglove and we think that you will too!!
A gorgeous nature book for little readers
