Book Advent 2020: The Nutcracker Posted on November 8, 2020 by Jennie 0 View this post on Instagram Yesterday was Day 6 of our extended Book Advent and we read this beautiful version of The Nutcracker based on the New York City Ballet production of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker. This version of the story has the main girl called Marie rather than Clara. The rest of the story is the timeless classic that we all know and love. The illustrations in this beautiful book are stunning and make you feel like you are watching dancers on a stage. This is a slightly scarier reimagining of the story and I think my older girls enjoyed this one more than Edie. This book has made me long for the theatre. It is the thing I have missed most this year. This book includes some fun facts about the NYC Ballet and their production of The Nutcracker. It makes you realise how much work goes on behind the scenes to bring this magical most popular of ballets to the stage year after year. We will definitely be watching The Nutcracker in a theatre next year and I know of one little girl who will be dreaming of having the chance to dance the part of Clara, or Marie x @nycballet @simonkidsuk @simonandschuster #thenutcracker #georgebalanchine #edspirereadschristmas #christmasbooks #booksforchristmas #booksforchildren #ballet #thenutcrackerballet #bookadvent #bookadvent2020 A post shared by Jennie Bookish Play & Learning (@edspire) on Nov 8, 2020 at 12:12am PST
