William totally and utterly believes in The Lost World
When I told him and Esther
We had been invited to Lost Kingdom
He totally believed we would be travelling back in time
To a place where dinosaurs are alive and well
And roaming free for us to see
On route to Paultons Park
I gave William a map of the attraction
To avoid too much disapppointment on arrival
That we were in fact still in 2016
With rollercoasters and theme park rides
Rather than real prehistoric creatures
Map studied and memorised
Our mini explorers were ready for Lost Kingdom
And beyond excited to be some of the very first children
To ever visit the park
As we queued to enter Paultons Park
We had the opportunity to get up close with a baby dinosaur
It was really very realistic and quite cute
Esther was smitten
One of the wonderful things about Lost Kingdom
Is the attention to detail
The amount of clever planning
To create a truly immersive dinosaur experience
This was helped along by the scorching hot weather
On our visit day
We started our adventure with the T Rex
Esther was desperate to get close to him
A few families at a time
Were allowed in to the enclosure
With the Tyrannosaurus Rex
But we were always slightly off with our timing
And the queue was always closing as we arrived
We did get right up to the fence though
And Esther was brave enough to stroke him
She was incredibly happy and proud that she did
At one point during the day
We witnessed dinosaur feeding time
Which was when William truly realised the T Rex was not real
And it was all a bit of a show
The first ride we ventured on
Was The Dinosaur Tour Company
The queue was quite long and fairly slow
As people were having photographs taken
For their Park Ranger Cards
We did not mind the queue
As we weaved through rock tunnels
And gazed at rollercoasters through skylights
Even queuing is fun in Lost Kingdom
The Dinosaur Tour Co is fun for all the family
With two steering wheels in each jeep
It is perfect for twins
The tour takes you round a trail
Spotting different animated dinosaurs
There was lots to see
We were trying to guess what the different dinosaurs were
It would have been good, I think
If the models were labelled
We went on this ride twice
And each time one of us came off in tears
After an unexpected squirting of water
Bea was also a bit frightened of the very protective dinosaur mummy
Lurking in the dark!
We did all enjoy it though
And Bea could be heard shouting
Again, again, again!
For Esther, it was all about The Flight of the Pterosaur
She went first with Daddy
And came racing off wanting more
So she took me on
The Flight of the Terror Soar
I was imagining
But my brave little girl wanted me on
Wanted to hold my hand
And so I did
And it was wonderful
Fast and high
All above the land of Lost Kingdom
With a height restriction of 1m
A great rollercoaster for all the family to enjoy
Before the ride stopped
Esther was already wanting to fly again
Instead she rode the Dino Chase with William
This was about the limit of his nerve
And they loved riding this mini coaster together
One ride Esther, William and Bea all loved was
Boulder Dash
Spinning round in almost crashing
Rocks and eggs
Was exhilarating fun
We loved exploring Lost Kingdom
Searching high and low for sneak peeks of dinosaurs
Becoming Rangers
There was so much in the Kingdom to see and do
Sadly our visit was cut short by Mummy being poorly
But I have promised my Explorer Team
That we will go back
That we will get to go in with the T Rex
And we will journey beyond the Lost Kingdom
What a roarsome day out for all the family
Paultons Park we salute you
We will be back!
We were invited to the preview day free of charge in return for an honest review
