Today is National Bed Making Day
And The Fine Bedding Company are asking
How do you make yours?
I do not make ours
David does
Especially since we got a king size bed
And a super king sized duvet!
I adore our duvet
It is from The Fine Bedding Company
One of their Breathe range
And is perfect for use all year round
It comes in two parts
Two layers of different togs
That can be poppered together to create a heavy combined tog
The Breathe Duvet is a climate control duvet
It works to keep you cool when it is hot and keep you warm when it is cold
The duvet is breathable and non allergenic
It can be washed at 60 degrees
Which is perfect for a duvet that is often shared with three small children!
It is a super soft and snuggly duvet
The most luxurious bed cover I have ever owned
It is wonderful
I am looking forward to adding the extra layer as the seasons change
We have lots of lovely covers for our Breathe duvet
I treated myself to John Lewis bedding
When we redesigned and renovated our room
We have three sets
All in a purply design
Stripes and shapes and floral
The bedding is changed often as I am breastfeeding Bea
And David takes charge of that job
Who changes the bedding in your house?
How often?
And how is it done?
According to online sources, 11th September 2014 is “Make Your Bed Day” #makeyourbedday so The Fine Bedding Company has polled the nation to uncover the UK’s top five most popular ways of tackling one of the most challenging household chores….putting on a duvet cover.
The UK’s five most common techniques are:
1. The Hand Puppet – Turning the duvet cover inside out to flip it over is the most frequently applied technique in UK homes (28% do this).
2. The Wrestler – Getting inside the duvet cover with the duvet to wrestle it corner to corner is a close second (24% of the UK use this method).
3. The Recruiter – 19% of the UK makes changing a duvet a two-man job, waiting for someone to help you out!
4. The Clip Method – Using clips or pegs to hold the corners in place was the next most popular method (with 15% of the vote).
5. The Double Fold – Folding the duvet up & shaking it in (just 5% of us fold).Other more bizarre methods cited included the commando – laying the duvet cover on the floor and crawling up to the top corners commando style with the duvet and the chimneysweep method, where you take two small children give each a corner of the duvet and send them into the cover. Fastening the cover and shaking it down only when you are certain there are no children still inside.
The survey also quizzed more than 2000 UK British adults about how they learn their bed making techniques and what they think of this domestic chore.
It seems putting a duvet cover on is an ‘untaught’ life skill. The most popular answer was that we learn how to make a bed by observing and mimicking our parents, followed closely by copying what our partner does.
And while we’re lovers of a great night’s sleep, making the bed is one of THE most hated household jobs. In the poll 87% confessed to changing sheets and pillow cases less frequently than they would like because it is such a pain to put the duvet cover back on.
To ease the nation’s Make Your Bed Day frustrations, The Fine Bedding Company called in the experts and created a vlog demonstrating the quickest and easiest technique for changing your duvet cover.
And finally, according to Charles Duhigg, author of The Power of Habit, by making your bed each morning you’ll get more done and be happier. He says: “Making your bed every morning is correlated with better productivity, a greater sense of well-being, and stronger skills at sticking with a budget.”
“It’s not that a family meal or a tidy bed causes better grades or less frivolous spending. But somehow those initial shifts start chain reactions that help other good habits take hold.”
