Tidy Books Bookcase Review and Giveaway

Esther and William celebrated their second third birthday yesterday.

Though it was their actual third birthday in July, yesterday was the anniversary of their due date.

For some reason I decided that the best thing to buy them would be 68 Thomas books!

We have read so many in the last 48 hours that I have to keep requesting voice breaks!

In this house we love Thomas well, some of us do.

But we all adore books.

We have books in every single room of our house.

Books in the lounge for quiet reading, noisy and activity books in the playroom, mummy and daddy’s books in the office, food related books in the kitchen, books in the bathrooms.

We read anywhere, any table, any chair …

Anywhere.

And we store books anywhere, anywhere we can and we are always running out of book storage space.

Because of all of this I was thrilled to be asked to be a Tidy Books Ambassador and to review a children’s book case that would be ideal for Esther and William’s new bedroom.

And it is perfect in every way.

It fits in with the room beautifully and we are already busy filling it with books.

The tall bookcase from Tidy Books is perfect for preschool aged children. It displays books the way a toddler needs them to be, with the front covers facing out. It means that children can find a story that appeals to them, they can literally judge and choose a book by it’s cover.

Esther and William have always loved looking at books and talking about them.

We have had various boxes and baskets of books over the years since they were born.

We always end up with a carpet of books over the floor as we try to select one story to read.

Now Esther and William can look at books and choose one they know or like the look of without having to empty them all out of the shelves.

The Tidy Books Children’s Bookcase is easy to put together and sturdy once built. It can be attached to the wall or other hard surface such as a cabin bed. The wood finish is lovely and we chose the case with the colourful letters on. The letters are a wonderful learning resource for young children and can be used for fun songs and games. They also look good and add colour to the design. Esther and William really like the letters and love link each one to an engine (Thomas!) Esther spent quite a bit of time when the bookcase first went up trying to get the letters off to play with them but now she understands that on the shelves is where they stay.

The bookcase has four shelves for different sized books. We are filling the shelves with picture books and board books full of favourite stories, songs and rhymes. We have had a lot of fun choosing which books to have upstairs and we have read and reread lots of our old family favourites.

This bookcase makes books accessible for children, even the smallest like mine!

I am going to write a full review of the bookcase in use next week. I want to show you some videos of Esther and William choosing books to put on the shelves and then how they access the books from the case. I also want to show you the bookcase in the context of their finished and furnished room!

In the meantime I would like to offer you the chance to win a Tidy Books Bookcase of your won.

This tall standing book case is a fabulous addition to any room. You can choose your colourway, with or without letters, to suit your children and your room. The bookcase holds around 85 books and makes them easy for children to access and browse. The bookcase is made with wood from sustainable resources and finished with eco-friendly water based lacquer, creating a natural finish that allows the wood grain to be just visible.

It is a stunning treasure trove for any family of book lovers or book lovers to be!

You may have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be –
I had a mother who read to me.

  1. We have nearly bought one of these so many times and not quite done it because of cost, but they are lovely. We have so many books and never enough places to store them, so it would be perfect 🙂

  2. That would be amazing. Pi am short on space & have recently started having a friend as little boy on a weekly basis aswell as spending a lot of time caring for my uncles 3 children. Currently I either have to stand the child on the coffee table( it’s old and wobbly) or moove the sofa. It would be safer, save my back and so much ore convenient to have a book case that is just right for the little people in my house!

  3. Hi not sure what other product I would buy as so much to choose from but with 3 children who all seem to have love of books I would probably have to buy 2 more bookcases! 🙂

  4. LOVE THE BUNK BED SHELVES TOO, MY SON JUST PUTS EVERYTHING IN HIS BED! THINGS ARE ALWAYS FALLING OUT IN THE NIGHT MAKING ME JUMP:-S

  5. I would love the bunk bed shelves , my son recently moved into his own bed (after 5 years of wonderful co-sleeping) and got a super cool (his words) pirate mid-sleeper with a slide and everything . He is really into reading just now (thanks school) and his books are all over his bed at night and falling off causing upset.

  6. Their new bedroom looks amazing! Love the new bookshelf too. I like Tidy Books bunk bed buddy, it’s hard for whoevers on the top bunk to have their stuff nearby without having it in the bed!

  7. I would love to win the tidy books book case to store all my son’s books. If I bought any other product it would be the Tidy Books Family Organiser as I am always trying to multi purpose things to make the most of the space we have.

  8. We would love the Tidy Books book box for the boy’s bedroom! We would put the bookcase downstairs in new house where we have no storage at all! And his book stocks are gathering momentum! Fingers crossed!

  9. This looks fantastic. My little boy has so many books and not enough storage! I’d love to own the Forget-MeNot organiser. I am so unorganised it’s ridiculous!

  10. It would have to be the baby buddy storage. As my little ones are getting older we will soon be taking the sides off the cots, which is a fantastic milestone but also gives them full access to the changing table full of lovely lotions and potions to spill and spread all over the carpets and furniture! Unsupervised Messy play at its best haha! 🙂

  11. I think this bookcase is brilliant, I’ve been thinking about something like this for a while as my son either covers the floor trying to choose a book, or just chooses the same ones! The write one would go perfectly in his bedroom.

  13. These bookshelves are amazing, we also have books everywhere – in baskets & bags, piles on the floor. We’d love the Tidy Books Box in white because it’s be great to be able to put her favourite books of the moment in there and move them around the house or take to Grandma’s.

  16. These are so much better than the usual bookcases! All their products look great, but for us I think the bunk bed shelves of the family organiser would work best in the boys newly decorated room-mind you I like the book boxes too! x

  20. I love the bookcase in blue with lowercase letters. My little boy is autistic and absolutely loves his books. I have to have them within easy reach otherwise he will not be happy at all. I really like that they make the books easy to reach for children.

  21. I love the Tidy book box, my childrem have the cupboard under the stairs (the Harry Potter Cupboard!) and this would fit in beautifully, i could even shut the doors whilst they are in there reading haha!

  33. I’d love a The Tidy Books Box – I think it would be really handy for storing our library books to keep them separate from all our other books. Plus when we first get books from the library they want them upstairs at bedtime, in the playroom for reading during the day and even in the bathroom for a quick story to act out with the bath toys. This is an easy way to transport them around the house.

  34. The other product I would want is the bed shelf for my eldest son to keep his special treasure on, safe and secure away from his baby brother.

  35. Would love the standing book shelves, would be perfect for my daughters to be able store their books and choose a story each night without knocking all the books out! I also childmind so this would be ideal!

  36. I would absolutely love a baby buddy – having a tiny changing table with no room on top for anything but a changing mat plus having a small nursery mean storage of wipes etc will be tricky when my baby arrives. All tidy books products are fabulous!

  37. Iy would be the bookcase …i read tonnes of books as a child and read several books each night to my 2 year old and she has no bookcase to put her grpwing her collection in and i love the way the books face outwards in these cases as you’ve pointed out young children need to see them this way to know what they are picking xx

  38. I would like the Tidy Books Box-Blue please. These because I zc4have five little brothers and there room has not got much storage. They like to read ‘Harry and his bucket full of dinosaurs’ and nowhere to put them safe. I would just like to help them

  39. The other item I would love is the Forget me not Family Organiser. it is neat and perfect for keeping things in the right place when you need to dash out to school. It would be better than scrabbling around at the last minute to find everything.

  49. the bunk bed buddy for me my daughter always has so many books on her bed its had to reach them this may encourage her to keep them tidy

  50. I love the Tidy Books Baby Buddy in blue as it would help me tidy away all our baby bath stuff away. At the moment our bathroom shelves are cluttered in baby stuff, so it would be nice to have a devoted space for baby things.x

  51. The Tidy Books Children’s Bookcase – Natural Lowercase
My daughter is starting to learn her alphabet so this would be ideal

  52. I love the “The Tidy Books Box” so that when my grandchildren stay they can bring all their books from their bedroom into the living room. It would certainly make life easier for all of us.

  53. The Tidy Book Box, my daughters books never stay confined to her bedroom so it would be a good place to keep her favourites she wants to read around the house

  54. I would like a bunk buddy to go near my eldest’s bed, which is not actually a bunk bed but is a cabin and high-ish, and i think those shelves would be good to keep his more advanced books seperate from the younger ones so they dont get ruined!
